Vaclen Tor

Captain Vaclen Tor, a male Human, was a member of the Navy under the command of Darth Krayt's Galactic Empire.

Biography

In the year 137 ABY, Vaclen Tor, a male Human captain, held the position of commanding officer on the Ardent-class fast frigate known as the Steadfast. The Steadfast, as a member of the Coruscant Third Fleet, was assigned to defend the planet of Ralltiir. At that time, the Galactic Alliance Remnant and the Empire-in-exile launched a surprise attack on the planet, with the goal of capturing as many Imperial starships as possible.

Admiral Peto Kelsan, the fleet's commanding officer, ultimately conceded to Admiral Edouard Fenel's ultimatum and gave the order for the overwhelmed fleet to surrender. In contrast, Vaclen Tor stood firm and refused to comply, reminding Kelsan that their duty was to destroy their own ships. Admiral Fenel responded by granting permission for Tor's crew to begin a mutiny against him. The captain, however, maintained that his crew remained loyal to him and the Imperial throne, and that they would not follow the orders of traitors.

Enraged by Tor's act of defiance, Fenel commanded all his ships, including Kelsan's, to open fire on the Steadfast. Tor, however, acted quickly and strategically positioned one of Ralltiir's moons in the path of Fenel's fleet. Kelsan, inspired by Tor's actions, ordered the fleet to set their ships to self-destruct and evacuate in the escape pods. Kelsan chose to remain aboard the Avenger as it was destroyed.

Despite these efforts, the Steadfast sustained damage, rendering its lifepods and self-destruct mechanism inoperable. Admiral Gar Stazi of the Galactic Alliance Remnant decided to strand Vaclen Tor and his crew on Ralltiir's surface, and then present the ship to Emperor Roan Fel as a gift. This move effectively denied Fenel control over Tor and his crew, while also demonstrating that the Alliance were allies of Fel, not his subjects.

By 138 ABY, Captain Tor was still serving in the Sith Empire's Navy. He participated in the Sith Imperial assault on the Hidden Temple of the Jedi Order located on Taivas, where he commanded the Intruder. During the space battle against the combined forces of the Galactic Alliance fleet and Fel loyalist vessels, the Intruder suffered extensive damage and was destroyed.

Personality and traits

Captain Vaclen Tor, a highly capable military officer, demonstrated unwavering commitment to his duty, even when faced with overwhelming odds. Tor's loyalty was to the Imperial throne. Consequently, he opposed any actions that would compromise or yield to the Empire's adversaries, namely the Bastion resistance and the Galactic Alliance Remnant.

When his superior, Admiral Peto Kelsan, ordered the fleet to surrender following a joint Alliance-Fel Empire assault, Tor upheld his allegiance to the throne by disregarding Kelsan's orders, citing them as a violation of Imperial code. Recognizing the Alliance and Fel's Empire's intent to seize the Coruscant Third Fleet's ships intact, he instructed his crew to activate the self-destruct devices and evacuate over Ralltiir, thereby denying the enemy their objective. This courageous tactic earned him the respect of Kelsan, as well as his Alliance adversaries Admiral Stazi and Captain Bey, who subsequently supported him when Fenel ordered the destruction of all life-pods from the Coruscant Third Fleet.
