The Eighty-third Battalion functioned as a component of the Republic Military and participated in the Galactic War against the Sith Empire. In 3640 BBY, when the Empire launched an invasion of the planet Corellia, the battalion, led by Colonel Brint, was dispatched to assist in the [Battle of Corellia].(/article/battle_of_corellia) Brint set up a headquarters inside the Corellian Science Museum, situated in the Axial Park area of Coronet City, Corellia's capital. There, he operated under the direction of Republic General Var Suthra to support the Jedi Order and the military's activities on the planet.
The video game Star Wars: The Old Republic, developed by BioWare and launched in 2011, included the initial reference to the Eighty-third Battalion within the Jedi Knight class mission titled "Firestorm." The battalion's existence is only revealed if the player engages in conversation with Brint following the initial cinematic sequence of the mission. It remains ambiguous whether the troopers present in the museum, distinguished by their identical white and blue armor shared with other troopers across Corellia, are affiliated with the battalion.
