Eleena Daru

Eleena Daru, during the Great Galactic War, was a Twi'lek of the Rutian variety, making her a female. She was the paramour of the Sith Lord known as Darth Malgus. Darth Malgus rescued her from enslavement in the slave camps of Geonosis, where she began as a slave. She took part in the historical event known as the Sacking of Coruscant in the year 3653 BBY.

During the initiation of the Sacking of Coruscant, Eleena, along with Shae Vizla, accompanied Darth Malgus into the Jedi Temple. While Shae Vizla managed to slip in unnoticed through a higher entrance, Eleena walked alongside Malgus through the main entrance, acting as his protector from the rear as the Jedi present in the Temple's foyer moved to engage them. During the brief confrontation, and with the Jedi focused on Malgus, a shuttle transporting a Sith strike team crashed into the Temple's entrance behind the duo. The Sith warriors emerged and attacked the Jedi en masse, marking the beginning of the Sacking of Coruscant.

Throughout the conflict, Eleena sought cover and provided supporting fire using her pair of blaster pistols. However, she was subdued by Jedi Master Ven Zallow, who employed the Force to push her against a pillar. After recovering from her injuries, Darth Malgus tasked her with gathering specific individuals and equipment, instructing her to bring them to his ship, the Valor. At the Liston Spaceport on Coruscant, she was ambushed by Aryn Leneer, a Jedi Knight. Aryn defeated Eleena but, upon realizing the nature of Eleena's treatment by Malgus, chose to spare her life. This act of mercy later led to Malgus sparing Aryn's life in return.

Ultimately, these events led Malgus to the realization that his affection for Eleena had become a vulnerability that could be exploited. He determined that such a weakness could not be tolerated. As Eleena recuperated from her encounter with Aryn, Malgus ended her life with a single lightsaber strike through her heart. Eleena's demise had a profound impact on Malgus, with her memory haunting his thoughts and fueling his rage. In death, she became a significant source of his power.

Biography

Attack on Coruscant

Eleena covers Malgus as they are surrounded by Jedi.

In the year 3681 BBY, the Sith Empire, presumed to have been destroyed over a thousand years prior, reemerged from isolation and initiated a war against the Galactic Republic. After twenty-eight years of conflict, the Sith reached out to the Republic, expressing interest in negotiating a peaceful resolution. While representatives from both sides convened on the planet of Alderaan to establish a peace treaty, the Sith launched a surprise assault on Coruscant, the Republic's capital, aiming to force the Republic into signing the Treaty of Coruscant.

Battle in the Jedi Temple

Eleena Daru

As Sith forces in a shuttle prepared their attack on Coruscant, she and Darth Malgus toured Coruscant, awaiting Shae Vizla's mission completion. During this period, she engaged in a candid discussion with her lover regarding their future, expressing her lack of enthusiasm for a life of constant fighting alongside Malgus until their deaths. She desired a settled life, but Malgus clarified that his loyalty to the Sith Empire made that impossible, and their relationship would always be that of Master and Servant. She reminded him that he hadn't always treated her as a servant, suggesting a deeper, more intimate connection. In response, he spoke harshly, denying any such feelings and asserting that she was merely a servant. Angered, she challenged him, reminding him of her care for him after Satele Shan had severely wounded him, and questioning his sincerity regarding his beliefs in evolution, perfection, and conflict. Struck by her beauty, Malgus kissed her passionately, and they shared a smile. With Shae Vizla and Lord Adraas having completed their mission, they advanced towards the Jedi Temple, eliminating the outer guards. As the shuttle crashed into the Jedi Temple, Sith Warriors emerged, initiating a battle. Eleena initially fought alongside Malgus before fighting independently. Eleena's attempt to aid Darth Malgus in attacking Jedi Master Ven Zallow with her blasters proved to be a fatal error. The Jedi Master easily redirected two of her shots back into her body, one striking her shoulder and the other her chest, while simultaneously using a Force push to send her crashing into a pillar. This enraged Darth Malgus, giving him the advantage in his fight with Jedi Master Ven Zallow, ultimately allowing Malgus to kill Zallow.

The Sith eliminated all the Jedi, marking the beginning of the Sacking of Coruscant. Following the battle in the Jedi Temple, Malgus, under the watchful eyes of his Sith companions and Lord Adraas, checked on Eleena. She was alive, with no broken bones, only the two gaping black holes in her skin. Upon awakening, she called him by his birth name, 'Veradun,' in front of other Sith, a forbidden act. Malgus clenched his fist in anger, causing her to blanch and stare wide-eyed. However, upon realizing her mistake, his anger subsided. In Lord Adraas' presence, Malgus roughly pulled her to her feet, aggravating her wounds and causing her intense pain. She leaned on Malgus to avoid falling, which he allowed, further demonstrating his care for her. She displayed selflessness by encouraging Malgus to leave her and enjoy the destruction of the planet. Initially protesting treatment for her wounds, Malgus insisted that she receive attention regardless of her wishes. She was then transported to an Imperial medical transport called the Steadfast, where she would be treated and await Malgus's return.

Death

Eleena Daru

After recovering from her injuries in a civilian hospital on Coruscant, Eleena maintained her belief in the inherent goodness of Malgus. They argued, and she eventually confessed her love for him. She then took up residence in a captured spaceport used for Imperial transports. Unbeknownst to her, the smuggler Zeerid Korr and the Jedi Aryn Leneer planned to use the same spaceport to escape Coruscant. Malgus, aware of this, rushed to the port to protect Eleena. Leneer, seeking revenge for Malgus's murder of Jedi Master Ven Zallow, located Eleena and nearly killed her. However, before she could bring herself to murder the unarmed Eleena, Aryn realized the harsh treatment Eleena endured at Malgus's hands and recognized her own error. She chose not to kill Eleena, instead knocking her out and capturing her. Leneer and Malgus then confronted each other, engaging in a prolonged battle that Malgus won. He spared Leneer's life in return for her sparing Eleena's. After Leneer's departure, Malgus realized that he had allowed his emotions to dictate his actions, a weakness that the other Sith would exploit. Determined to eliminate any vulnerabilities, Malgus killed Eleena with his lightsaber as she awoke, driving it through her heart.

Personality and traits

Eleena stood by her lover's side during his attack on the Jedi Temple.

Eleena, as Darth Malgus's lover, was one of the few individuals capable of genuine affection for him. She openly admitted this to Jedi Knight Aryn Leneer, a complete stranger, indicating her lack of shame in her love. However, she acknowledged that Malgus caused harm to others, even those he loved. This realization led Leneer to understand that Malgus inflicted emotional pain on Eleena. Her previous master, to whom she had been enslaved until her late teens, had subjected her to severe abuse.

Despite her strength and general resignation to death, at least concerning herself, Eleena displayed fear of physical violence and death on at least two occasions. The first instance occurred when she addressed Malgus by his birth name, Veradun, in the presence of other Sith, provoking his anger. The second time was when Jedi Knight Aryn Leneer activated Master Ven Zallow's lightsaber while Eleena was disarmed in an Imperial Shuttle, anticipating her death. She was also deeply loyal, particularly to Malgus, accompanying him into battle despite being outnumbered during the Sacking of Coruscant, and carrying out a special assignment for him the day after the initial attack. She demonstrated emotional courage when she confronted Malgus about his anger after he had taken her from a civilian hospital on Coruscant. She frequently called him Veradun, and claimed that there was gentleness in him after he had taken care of her.

Before her death at Malgus's hands, she declared her knowledge of his love for her. When he admitted his love, she was overjoyed, but her joy quickly turned to concern as she saw tears streaming down his face for perhaps the first time in her life, and possibly in his. The only other time she had witnessed such emotion from him was in anger. When she asked what was wrong, he said in a pained and emotion filled voice his love for her was wrong. She said his name, in perhaps a soft and sad tone, before Malgus killed her with his lightsaber, driving it through her heart.

She was the only person to ever smile at the sight of Darth Malgus. She did show some form of dissatisfaction with the relationship between her and Malgus, and she wanted for it to progress into something more. Malgus himself realized that she was his moral conscience, his weakness, the one thing that others could exploit. Malgus later decided that he had to destroy what he had loved: Eleena, because she was his weakness. In addition to this, it could be inferred that Malgus took pity on her, specifically the life that she was living. She seemed doomed from the start, already dead in a sense, as soon as she had been given to her original master.

Equipment

Eleena Daru wore light armor similar to that worn by smugglers and Imperial Agents. She wielded twin blaster pistols when she fought alongside her lover, Darth Malgus, during the assault on the Jedi Temple at the Sacking of Coruscant.
