Enceri was situated on the Outer Rim planet of Mandalore and could be found as a remote town. As a minor settlement, especially when contrasted with the capital of Mandalore, namely Keldabe, Enceri primarily functioned as a trading location. It also served as the closest supply hub for Kyrimorut, a sanctuary for clone deserters who had abandoned the Galactic Republic's Grand Army and the base of operations for the Mandalorian Skirata clan. Unlike much of Mandalore, Enceri largely escaped the Imperial occupation during the Empire's rule. In the year 40 ABY, a deposit of beskar metal ore was discovered just to the north of Enceri, which initiated a period of economic prosperity for Mandalore.
Even by the standards of Mandalore, Enceri was a small and isolated town, dwarfed by Keldabe, the capital of Mandalore, and Sundari, the capital city of the New Mandalorians. Nevertheless, it served as a valuable trading center for those residing in the northern parts of the planet. The Mandalorian language, Mando'a, was the primary language of the inhabitants. The town featured a market day in its large marketplace, where five-liter containers of tihaar, an alcoholic beverage, could be purchased. Regular rain often transformed the marketplace into a muddy mess. A grain silo stood prominently on the town's edge. Enceri also boasted a cantina that offered pints of ne'tra gal, a Mandalorian alcoholic drink, alongside bowls of gi dumpling or red gourd soup.
Enceri, situated in Mandalore's northern territories, started as a trading post and gradually evolved into a small town over time. Though considered insignificant by many, it was a hub of commerce and a gathering place for Mandalorians in the vicinity.
In 20 BBY, specifically nine hundred and seventy-three days after the Battle of Geonosis that marked the beginning of the galaxy-spanning Clone Wars, Fi Skirata, a former clone commando, traveled to Enceri to meet with his girlfriend, Parja Bralor. During their visit, they encountered Fenn Shysa, the future Mand'alor, in an Enceri cantina. Around the same period, other members of Fi's clan journeyed from their nearby home, Kyrimorut, to Enceri to acquire supplies and gather intelligence.
Due to its small size and remote location, Enceri was spared the Imperial presence that much of Mandalore experienced during the Galactic Empire's reign, as the occupying forces overlooked it. However, in 40 ABY, Enceri's relative insignificance came to an end. Following the devastation caused by the Yuuzhan Vong during the Yuuzhan Vong War, then Mand'alor Boba Fett urged two million Mandalorians scattered throughout the galaxy to return to Mandalore to assist in its reconstruction. While approaching Mandalore's orbit, a Mandalorian minerals engineer and geologist conducted scans and compared them with older geological records. During their descent, they identified an untouched vein of beskar iron ore, which had been missed by the Galactic Empire's strip-mining operations and exposed by the Vong's singularity ordnance strikes. Mining operations commenced near Enceri's outskirts, overseen by site foreman Herik Vorad, and the beskar extracted from these new mines propelled Mandalore into a period of economic expansion.
Enceri was initially introduced into Star Wars canon with a mention in the 2007 novel Legacy of the Force: Sacrifice by author Karen Traviss. Traviss later featured Enceri more prominently in Order 66: A Republic Commando Novel, the fourth book in her Republic Commando series of novels. Enceri was mentioned again in Imperial Commando: 501st, the sequel to Order 66. The 2008 reference book, The Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia, included a short entry about Enceri.
