Eris Harro held the position of Bureau Chief for the HoloNet News organization's Outer Rim Node, operating from the city of Phelar on the planet Eriadu, situated in the Outer Rim. Eriadu was under the control of the Galactic Empire. Together with Minister of Information Pollux Hax, Harro was responsible for sending introductory messages to new recruits of the Imperial Press Corps. This organization, according to Harro and Hax, consisted of the galaxy's most respected journalists. Each message included a badge that authorized the holder to report any violations against the Galactic Empire.
In addition to the welcome messages, Harro and Hax disseminated wanted posters featuring several rebels operating on Lothal to members of the Imperial Press Corps, along with a message detailing how to spread the information. Journalists were instructed to notify the nearest Imperial garrison upon sighting the rebels, rather than attempting to apprehend them personally.
Eris Harro's name initially appeared in official Star Wars canon on a card distributed to actual journalists in 2014. This card, which also included a pin displaying the Imperial Press Corps' insignia, served as advertising for the then-forthcoming animated series, Star Wars Rebels. One side of the card depicted an in-universe message from Harro and Pollux Hax, while the other side announced that Star Wars Rebels: Spark of Rebellion, the premiere movie of the series, would be broadcast on October 3, 2014, with the series proper commencing on October 13.
Within the Star Wars Legends continuity, Eris Harro made her debut in "The Guns of Kelrodo-Ai," a short story penned by Jason Fry. It was featured in issue 132 of Star Wars Insider magazine, released on March 13, 2012. This story was linked to The Essential Guide to Warfare, a reference book co-authored by Fry and Paul R. Urquhart and published in the same year. In "The Guns of Kelrodo-Ai," Harro's surname was written as "Herro," whereas "Harro" was the spelling used in The Essential Guide to Warfare, and this latter spelling was also adopted on the Star Wars Rebels promotional materials.
