Star Wars: Fate of the Jedi

FOTJ poster Comic-Con International Poster Star Wars: Fate of the Jedi is a series comprising nine books that takes place two years following the events detailed in the Star Wars: Legacy of the Force series. The books are the result of a collaborative effort by Aaron Allston, Christie Golden, and Troy Denning, using a rotating authorship approach akin to that used in the Legacy of the Force series. Initially, Karen Traviss was slated to write three of the books, but Golden took her place due to Traviss's demanding writing commitments. John Jackson Miller penned a collection of related eBooks called Lost Tribe of the Sith focusing on the Lost Tribe of Sith as featured in the Fate of the Jedi novels. The series was originally going to be called Star Wars Odyssey, as it was inspired by the adventures of the legendary Greek hero Odysseus.

Publisher's Synopsis

Prior to the release of Outcast, which is the first book in the series, Del Rey books made available a complimentary preview guide for the series on StarWars.com entitled Fate of the Jedi: Dramatis Personae.

The Random House spring catalog PDF included the following statement regarding the Fate of the Jedi series:

"Fate of the Jedi begins an expansive story, featuring key roles for the galaxy's most beloved characters—Han Solo, Luke Skywalker, Leia Organa Solo, and their surviving children, Ben Skywalker and Jaina Solo. While Luke and Ben embark on an epic journey—full of discovery, hardship, challenges, and triumphs—the others remain in more familiar surroundings, grappling with the consequences of the civil war that shook the galaxy in the Legacy of the Force."

THE FUTURE AWAITS...

'Two years have passed since the demise of Darth Caedus. Natasi Daala, the Chief of State, has guided the Galactic Alliance into a period of unprecedented tranquility, and now the entire galaxy is prepared to freely embrace the same lasting peace that Jacen Solo once attempted to enforce as a Sith Lord.

In this new period, Luke Skywalker is struggling with maintaining control over the very order he established. Following Jacen's descent to the dark side, a significant portion of the galaxy views Jedi Knights as dangerous and unpredictable soldiers who should not be allowed to operate without restrictions. This viewpoint is shared by Chief Daala, who has vowed to bring the order under government control—or eliminate it entirely.

However, the most significant threat to the Jedi remains hidden, a mysterious enemy even more deadly and subtle than the Sith who have tormented the Jedi for thousands of years. This hidden danger, awakened by Jacen Solo during his five-year journey, is emerging from the darkest reaches of the galaxy, attacking Jedi Knights in ways that even Luke has yet to fully understand—but which he must quickly overcome if he hopes to save the New Jedi Order.
