The primary throne room of the Emperor, located on Coruscant.
Throne rooms of the Emperor served as the private headquarters for the Galactic Empire's and Fel Empire's Emperor. A throne room was available to Emperor Palpatine in the Imperial Palace, aboard the Death Stars, on Naboo, Byss, and Wayland, in addition to any other location he might visit. His favored and most important throne room was situated on Coruscant, positioned one meter above the other rooms, providing a view of the entire planet. The Emperor's command posts generally featured a sizable, round viewport window in front of the throne, often adorned with a web-like structure, to allow him to observe the area he was in. A permanent company of the Emperor's Royal Guards was stationed at each throne room.
The Imperial Palace on Coruscant contained two throne rooms for the Emperor. One was a public space, designed as a sunken auditorium resembling a large crater carved into bedrock. The audience decks featured flat stone benches arranged in long arcs, where visitors could listen to the Emperor's pronouncements. The Emperor could hear everything said to him from the audience decks, and the audience could hear everything the Emperor said. An angled, prismatic skylight at the top of the throne room directed rays of light onto the Emperor in his seat. Six Emperor's Royal Guards stood at attention at the base of the throne's tower. Palpatine's private chamber in the palace's tallest tower served as the second throne room. This was his preferred and most significant throne room, slightly elevated on a platform with a small staircase above the floor. The circular window in front of the throne, framed by the typical web-like structure, offered the Emperor a view of all of Coruscant. Palpatine was usually accompanied by at least two to four Royal Guards when in this primary chamber. This is where Palpatine elevated his most trusted military leader, Thrawn, to the rank of Grand Admiral.
The first throne room for Palpatine was located on an upper level of the EmPal SuRecon, constructed to resemble the Chancellor's holding office. A wide but short burnished staircase split the room into two levels, with the upper level having long permaplas windows. A pair of the Emperor's Royal Guards stood guard at the foot of the staircase. A table for Palpatine to meet with his Imperial Advisors was located behind the Guard stations, and behind that table was his large mechanized throne, connected to the building's communications and computer systems.
Palpatine relocated the majority of his artwork and statuary (such as the Massassi frieze) from his Republic Executive Building office to this new throne room. Palpatine also maintained a smaller, private throne room in the center, next to the operating room.

The Emperor's throne room on the first Death Star was situated in an observation dome atop a tower directly adjacent to the station's superlaser. This platform served as Palpatine's lookout to observe the laser's firing demonstrations. Access to the Emperor's chamber was only possible through a massive circular doorway featuring a large metal beam that rotated to unlock it. Inside the main chamber, the Emperor's throne was raised slightly above the floor by a short staircase and guarded by his Royal Guards and Imperial Senate Guards. The room was furnished with numerous control consoles surrounding Palpatine's throne and adorned with large statues crafted from black stone.
Palpatine had this chamber built during the early phases of the first Death Star's construction to closely monitor the workers and ensure its successful completion. During the Battle on Death Star I, Galen Marek arrived on the Death Star to save the leaders of the newly formed Rebel Alliance, Rahm Kota, Bail Organa, Garm Bel Iblis, and Mon Mothma. Palpatine brought the Alliance leaders here to personally execute them, intending to interrogate and torture them to death as punishment for their "betrayal" and to discover the identities of their allies. He also planned to display their agonizing deaths to the galaxy as a warning to deter further dissent and crush their resolve.
After fighting his way through the station, defeating one of the Emperor's Shadow Guard and his team of Royal Guards guarding the doorway, and severely injuring Darth Vader in a duel within the tower's carbon-freezing chamber, Galen Marek entered the chamber and confronted Darth Sidious. Sidious and Marek engaged in combat using their lightsabers and the Force. Marek emerged victorious, rescuing the Senators. As Juno Eclipse arrived in the Rogue Shadow, Palpatine revived and attacked Kota with Force lightning. Galen deflected the blast, allowing the rebels to escape by releasing his spirit to the Force. The resulting explosion nearly destroyed the tower, leaving only Vader and Palpatine standing.
Following the battle, Palpatine abandoned the throne room, entrusting the responsibility of monitoring the Death Star entirely to Darth Vader. Before its destruction, the Emperor never returned to the station.

The Emperor's throne room on the second Death Star was located at the summit of a 100-story tower positioned at the superweapon's north pole. This served as his command center, granting access to all of the station's systems. It was also fortified by several turbolaser turrets and more heavily shielded than any other section of the station. The standard circular viewport, complete with the web-like framework, afforded Palpatine a stunning view, while controls on the armrests kept him connected with his many subordinates. A legion's worth of Royal Guards barracks and living quarters for his advisors were also included at the tower's base.

In addition to being guarded by Sidious' devoted Royal Guards, all entrances to the throne room were equipped with security scanners and traps to deter intruders. A docking rig for his personal shuttle was also available, as well as guest reception rooms resembling his quarters on Coruscant, a health-monitoring sleep chamber, and a massive holographic map of the galaxy used to identify planets or star systems for subjugation or punishment.
The throne room itself bore many similarities to his throne room in the EmPal SuRecon Center. The tower was intentionally designed to resemble the central spire of the Jedi Temple. However, while the Jedi Temple spire had four smaller supporting towers, this tower had none, symbolizing the Sith's isolation. It would become the site of his first death in 4 ABY.
Following the Battle of Endor, the throne room was seemingly placed in formal mourning. Mara Jade took the black drape covering the throne and used it as a cloak when she left Coruscant. The unavailability of the main throne room may explain why Sate Pestage often used a throne room in the Imperial Sanctum during his brief tenure as "Interim Emperor." This space was considerably more austere than the more well-known throne room, with the throne itself projecting out on a long, blade-like balcony in a vast empty space. The only entrance was at the far end of the balcony, which Pestage quickly had guarded by a pair of Royal Guards.
After Pestage's overthrow, the Tribunal governed from the chamber where the Ruling Council had once convened. Subsequently, Director of Intelligence Ysanne Isard used her authority as head of security to eliminate all rivals and seize control of the entire administration, effectively becoming Empress. However, she shunned the formal symbols of power, and her existing office assumed the functions of the throne room as a control center and high-level audience chamber. Similarly, Grand Admiral Thrawn used the secondary command room aboard the Star Destroyer Chimaera.
The throne room inside Palpatine's citadel on Byss appeared to be a semi-circular room featuring rounded walls and ceiling. A large circular display screen occupied a significant portion of the rounded wall, enabling the throne room to serve as a military command center. The throne, also rounded, was positioned in front of the screen. Palpatine utilized this throne room following his resurrection as a clone after the Battle of Endor. He routinely received visual transmissions from the various battles on the display screen during the commencement of Operation Shadowhand.
It was here that he encountered Luke Skywalker after forcibly transporting him to Byss using a Force storm and successfully converting the Jedi to the dark side.

Following the Galactic Empire's conquest of Coruscant at the conclusion of the Sith–Imperial War, a throne room was swiftly prepared for Emperor Roan Fel. This was a wide chamber, characterized by short, sturdy pillars along both sides, but with expansive skylights in the roof and large windows in the end walls that opened the space to the sky and cityscape.
Unlike previous throne rooms, the dais was the only expansive open area in this space, with steps descending from it and from the side walls to a sunken floor in the room's center, which appeared to be occupied by an ornamental pool. Given that this throne room was operational within days of the Imperial conquest of the Jedi Temple, it may have been an existing structure repurposed by the conquerors. While it met the fundamental architectural requirements of an Imperial throne room, the only element identifying it as such was the throne itself, which rested on repulsorlifts and was not even permanently fixed in place.
After the death of Fel's decoy, Darth Krayt immediately seized control of this throne room.
