Emperor Sheev Palpatine arrived just in the nick of time to extinguish the flames with a fire extinguisher, remarking that he preferred his Sith Lords serving the dark side and not incinerated. Despite this intervention, Vader was subsequently required to wear armor because of the burns he sustained.
