Firefighter battle droid

Droid firefighters, a specialized variant of the B1 battle droid series, were designed and programmed to combat fires and featured improved heat resistance. Recognizable by their unique paint scheme and sizable backpacks, marked with the number 72066 on each side, they were armed with fire hoses that discharged fire-suppressing foam. Furthermore, they possessed small, integrated fire extinguishers.

Key Attributes

These firefighter battle droids were essentially standard B1 units modified to efficiently extinguish fires within Separatist military vessels and facilities. They possessed masculine programming, black sensors, and dark gray armor. Their armor was decorated with red accents and reflective yellow bands to increase visibility in smoky environments. They did receive basic combat training. Specialized programming was installed in the firefighter battle droids to enhance their emergency response capabilities, while redesigned backpacks carried their firefighting equipment. These droids were equipped with both a fire hose and a fire extinguisher. Their hoses could project a foam substance under pressure.

Historical Information

During the Clone Wars, specifically in 22 BBY, several firefighter battle droids were stationed on the Malevolence, a Subjugator-class heavy cruiser serving as the flagship for General Grievous. They attempted to put out the fires resulting from battle damage the ship had taken previously. They were also present in one of the hangars when Senator Padmé Amidala's captured yacht detonated, though their efforts to control the resulting blaze were not particularly successful.

Around or after 34 ABY, R0-GR, who called himself the last B1 battle droid, mentioned the firefighter units in his publication, droidography. In his book, R0-GR praised the firefighters for their bravery, attributing it to their B1-series origin.

Production Notes

The debut of the firefighter battle droids occurred in the Star Wars: The Clone Wars season one episode titled "Destroy Malevolence," which was broadcast on October 17, 2008.

While various sources indicate a height of 1.91 meters for these droids, Star Wars: The Clone Wars: Character Encyclopedia - Join the Battle! specifies their height as 1.93 meters.

The reflective stripes on the firefighter droids' paint scheme are intended to resemble a firefighter's protective clothing.
