Flanker was the designation of a clone trooper within the Grand Army of the Republic during the Clone Wars. He trained in the desert environment in 22 BBY alongside Shiv, his hatchmate and close comrade. Flanker met his end, being killed, during the Battle of Christophsis; however, Shiv continued to correspond with Flanker through letters even after his demise.

Flanker represented one of the many clones derived from the Mandalorian bounty hunter named Jango Fett. Born and rigorously trained on Kamino, Flanker was intended to serve the Grand Army of the Republic in the Clone Wars. In the year 22 BBY, Flanker, working alongside his hatchmate, Shiv, received assignment to desert training. During this period of time, Flanker made a humorous observation, suggesting that despite their extensive desert training, it was likely that one of them would ultimately be deployed to a water planet.
When the Confederate forces launched an attack on the Outer Rim world of Christophsis, Flanker was among the clone troopers dispatched by the Republic to defend the planet; tragically, he was killed in the ensuing conflict. In spite of Flanker's passing, Shiv found solace during his own missions by composing letters addressed to his deceased hatchmate. One particular letter detailed the challenges that he and his squad encountered while stationed on the icy planet of Orto Plutonia. During this deployment, Shiv engaged in a conversation with his commander, Mag, reflecting on Flanker and the recent circumstances of his death.
Flanker wasn't particularly fond of writing letters, but he possessed a sense of humor, demonstrated by his jesting remarks to Shiv about the possibility of being deployed to a water world after their desert training. Being a clone of Jango Fett, Flanker's height was measured at 1.83 meters.
Flanker's initial mention occurred in Cold Snap, a companion webcomic connected to "Trespass," an episode from the first season of the Star Wars: The Clone Wars animated television series. The writing for Cold Snap was done by Pablo Hidalgo.
