Fortitude (Valor-class)
The Fortitude, a Valor-class cruiser, served within the Republic Navy around the time of 3643 BBY.
This vessel, the Fortitude, functioned as the Republic's flagship for a crucial meeting with the Rift Alliance. This Alliance was a group threatening to secede from the Galactic Republic as a demonstration against the aftermath of the Great Galactic War fought between the Republic and the Sith Empire. To avert the potential collapse of the Republic due to this secession, Supreme Chancellor Dorian Janarus successfully arranged a meeting between Alliance leaders and his personal representative aboard the Fortitude, which was stationed in orbit above Deralia. This representative was the newly appointed Jedi Master Barsen'thor of the Jedi Order, chosen due to their recent triumph over Lord Vivicar.
The Barsen'thor journeyed to the Fortitude over Deralia utilizing their Defender-class light corvette. Upon arrival, they were informed by Nadia Grell, daughter of Senator Tobas Grell, that Sith agents had sabotaged the ship. The Sith had disabled the Fortitude's life support and fire control systems, and locked the navigational computer on a collision course with Deralia, a course that would result in the planet's destruction. After defeating the Sith apprentice Arrax on the Fortitude's bridge, the Barsen'thor, along with the Alliance representatives, managed to alter the ship's trajectory, averting the destruction of Deralia. They then escaped the doomed cruiser aboard the Jedi's corvette.
Behind the scenes
The Fortitude is the initial location that the Jedi Consular player explores at the beginning of Act II of their specific class storyline. The ultimate fate of the ship hinges on the player's decisions. Tobas Grell proposes overloading one of the ship's engines, which would result in the ship crashing into Deralia's moon; this idea is supported by the Selkath representative Shuuru. Nadia, however, argues against this plan, fearing that the impact with the moon would trigger significant tidal shifts, potentially causing widespread flooding. Consequently, choosing to overload the engine is considered the dark side option. The light side choice, as suggested by Nadia, involves utilizing the ship's thrusters to guide the ship into a stable orbit, avoiding a collision with either Deralia or its moon; this requires the coordinated effort of all the Rift Alliance representatives working together at the manual control consoles located throughout the ship.
