Frezno

Frezno was a moon characterized by improvised settlements acting as villages. Doctor Quadpaw practiced medicine from a tent on this satellite, serving as the pre-arranged backup plan for a rebel infiltration team after their heist on the neighboring planet of Aldhani during 5 BBY. Quadpaw's attempts to save the critically wounded rebel operative Karis Nemik proved unsuccessful, and Nemik died. Simultaneously, Arvel Skeen, another member of the team, endeavored to persuade his comrade Cassian Andor to abscond with the team's ill-gotten credits, but Andor terminated him with a blaster shot. Subsequently, the rebel operative Andor held Quadpaw and his superior Vel Sartha at blasterpoint, elucidating the situation before departing with his agreed-upon share of the heist proceeds.

Description

Frezno was a terrestrial moon situated within the largely forgotten Cademimu sector of the galaxy. It orbited a planet that dominated the lunar skyline. Boasting a type I atmosphere suitable for respiration by humans and other [species](/article/species], Frezno was covered by grasslands that were often shrouded in fog at night.

History

Quadpaw tries to save Karis Nemik

During the reign of the Galactic Empire, the alien Doctor Quadpaw maintained a surgical practice inside a tent on Frezno, offering medical assistance to desperate individuals with limited options and available credits. He had established contact with a rebel infiltration team, designated as their emergency medical contact in the event of complications arising from their planned heist on the nearby planet Aldhani in 5 BBY. Although the heist proved successful, the contingency came into effect when Karis Nemik, a member of the rebel team, sustained severe injuries, prompting his teammate Arvel Skeen to urge the remaining survivors to transport him to Quadpaw for treatment.

The rebel team landed on Frezno aboard a stolen Max-7 Rono box freighter, transporting the spoils of their heist, approximately eighty million credits. Within his makeshift operating room, Quadpaw commenced surgery on the injured rebel, assisted by the team leader Vel Sartha. Meanwhile, Skeen and Cassian Andor, the other two rebels present, were outside, discussing Nemik's chances of survival. Skeen quickly pivoted to proposing that Andor join him in fleeing with the credits to an uninhabited moon located eight parsecs away. The two debated their respective intentions, but as Skeen continued to elaborate on his scheme, Andor fatally shot him.

Regrettably, Quadpaw was unable to save Nemik, who succumbed to his injuries on the operating table. As the surgery concluded, Andor entered the operating theatre, blaster in hand. Andor explained the events involving Skeen, which Sartha found difficult to accept, and announced his departure with his agreed-upon share of the stolen credits, offering Quadpaw twice the value of his starship in exchange for its use. Before Andor's departure, Sartha insisted that he take Nemik's manifesto with him, as per Nemik's wishes. Consequently, both Andor and Sartha left Frezno independently.

Locations

A desolate and challenging location, Frezno's villages consisted of hastily constructed encampments. Quadpaw's medical practice was housed in a dimly lit tent, and he kept a ship in a barn.

Behind the scenes

Frezno was initially previewed in the official trailer for the first season of Tony Gilroy's live-action Disney+ series Andor, released on the official Star Wars YouTube channel on August 1, 2022. The moon made its first appearance in "The Eye," the sixth episode of the season, directed by Susanna White and released on October 22 of the same year. The filming location for Frezno was the hamlet of Beedon Common in the English county of Berkshire. While the episode and its audio description confirm Frezno as a moon orbiting a planet, the location's databank, as well as Quadpaw's, incorrectly identify it as a planet.
