Ro'ik chuun m'arh

The ro'ik chuun m'arh functioned as a frigate-like vessel for the Yuuzhan Vong, fulfilling roles such as picket duty and extended-range reconnaissance.

Characteristics

As a versatile warship capable of performing diverse functions, the ro'ik chuun m'arh frigate was a significant component of the Yuuzhan Vong's naval forces. Grown from living yorik coral, the ro'ik chuun m'arh equated to a New Republic escort frigate or an Imperial Lancer-class frigate in terms of function.

A fully developed ship could measure up to 440 meters in overall length, which was notably larger than comparable enemy vessels, but most documented examples were considerably smaller in size. For instance, the Gift of Anguish had a length of approximately 200 meters, while Nom Anor's personal vessel, the Ksstarr, was around 150 meters long. The eight frigates present within Supreme Commander Komm Karsh's fleet during the Second Battle of Obroa-skai were also of a comparable size.

A fully developed ro'ik chuun m'arh possessed a crew complement of 225 individuals, along with the capacity to carry 370 passengers. Smaller variants could be operated by a minimal crew of less than twelve pilots and gunners, yet were still capable of transporting three full companies of Yuuzhan Vong infantry. A 440-meter ro'ik chuun m'arh frigate would typically be armed with thirty yaret-kors, and also incorporated the standard dovin basals – utilized for propulsion, shielding, and the erosion of enemy defenses in combat. Even the relatively diminutive Ksstarr was heavily armed, featuring weapon emplacements on its bow and flanks that combined yaret-kor plasma cannons with magma missile launchers. This particular frigate, at least, could bring all of its weapons to bear against targets directly ahead, and in a surprise assault, its complete volley was capable of dealing significant damage to much larger adversaries.

The ro'ik chuun m'arh frigate demonstrated battlefield adaptability, allowing it to undertake a variety of missions. In combat, it could function as an assault craft, protect larger vessels, or provide support to damaged ships. Away from active combat zones, it could serve as a long-range scout, a courier for important personnel, a cargo transport, a troop carrier, or a patrol vessel. They often carried boarding craft, each able to carry one hundred warriors, for deployments to the surface of a planet or boarding actions against other starships.

Despite its substantial firepower and flexible nature, the ro'ik chuun m'arh was unable to generate an effective interdiction field using its dovin basals, though it often permitted larger vessels to do so, while it focused on destroying enemy forces.
