Komm Karsh, a Yuuzhan Vong warrior of the male persuasion, attained the rank of Supreme Commander by 28 ABY. Serving under the Supreme Overlord Shimrra Jamaane, during the Yuuzhan Vong invasion of the galaxy, Karsh commanded the sole strategic reserve for the Vong, intended to respond to significant enemy counterattacks. However, in 28 ABY, he perished along with the majority of his fleet during an attempt to investigate the libraries located on the captured planet Obroa-skai. The demise of Karsh and the destruction of his fleet necessitated that the Yuuzhan Vong empire cease offensive operations.
Komm Karsh, a warrior of the male Yuuzhan Vong species, existed during the time of the Yuuzhan Vong invasion targeting the galaxy. By 28 ABY, Karsh had achieved the status of Supreme Commander, overseeing the strategic provisions for the Yuuzhan Vong fleet. At one point, he journeyed to the library world of Obroa-skai with the aim of retrieving specific intelligence from its repositories of knowledge. This Inner Rim planet had previously been captured in 25 ABY by Yuuzhan Vong forces led by the priest Harrar and Commander Tla, but the libraries were intentionally spared from total destruction, as they were considered a valuable source of information to aid the Yuuzhan Vong in their galactic conquest.
However, New Republic Intelligence had received information suggesting that Supreme Overlord Shimrra Jamaane was planning a visit to Obroa-skai. Although Karsh went instead, a trap was laid for any Yuuzhan Vong fleet entering the Obroa-skai system. Karsh, commanding from his flagship, led his fleet out of hyperspace and into the system near the planet. The surprise appearance of a ro'ik chuun m'arh frigate, the Ksstarr, followed closely by a substantial New Republic task force under the command of General Keyan Farlander of Agamar, forced the Supreme Commander and his forces to quickly form a battle line. The yammosk, a creature used by the Yuuzhan Vong to coordinate combat, situated on Karsh's command vessel, instructed the frigate Ksstarr to remain concealed within the formation as coralskippers advanced to engage the New Republic forces, with support from another yammosk positioned on the planet's surface. Karsh mirrored Farlander's maneuvers, positioning his fleet to engage the enemy vessels with a broad firing arc. Karsh remained in his flagship, protected by a screen of starfighters, as his fleet clashed with the enemy.

The New Republic forces managed to jam the Supreme Commander's initial yammosk, as Wraith Squadron, a Republic commando unit, located and neutralized the planet's war-coordinator on Obroa-skai's surface. However, Karsh had deployed a second yammosk, allowing his forces to utilize the creature's coordination abilities, as well as their advantage in numbers, inflicting significant damage on Farlander's forces even as New Republic technology caused the Yuuzhan Vong ships to mistakenly target each other. The battle's momentum soon shifted once more; the New Republic disrupted the fleet's war-coordinator, causing Karsh's forces to descend into chaos. Adding to the difficulties, the frigate Ksstarr, which Karsh had permitted to position itself at the rear of his vessel, had actually been captured by a Jedi task force allied with the Republic. Under the leadership of the Jedi Jaina Solo, the Ksstarr opened fire on Karsh's command ship, destroying the weaponry at the stern and altering the flagship's gravity signature to indicate it was an enemy of the Yuuzhan Vong. Karsh's ship was quickly overwhelmed by the combined firepower of its own forces and the New Republic fleet. Although the Supreme Commander's remaining forces attempted to assist the stricken vessel, a Hapan fleet, led by Queen Mother Tenel Ka Djo and allied with the New Republic, jumped into the system and decimated Karsh's supporting ships. Karsh's flagship was obliterated in a massive explosion, killing the Supreme Commander. Only one of Karsh's ships managed to escape the ambush.
The death of Komm Karsh, along with the near-total destruction of his fleet, represented a severe setback for the newly established Yuuzhan Vong empire. Already struggling with the costly capture of Coruscant, the New Republic capital, failures in the Pyria system and the Hapes Cluster, and the sabotage of the World Brain on the re-shaped galactic capital, Shimrra could not afford the loss of such a substantial portion of the fleet. Warmaster Tsavong Lah received orders to cease further offensives, allowing the New Republic to regain a fighting chance and ultimately defeat the Yuuzhan Vong at Ebaq 9. In the meantime, Hreven Karsh, a sibling of the deceased Supreme Commander, received a promotion to the rank of commander to fill the void, and he led a failed attempt to capture a Jedi force in the Unknown Regions.
Komm Karsh remains unseen in person within Walter Jon Williams' novel The New Jedi Order: Destiny's Way, meeting his end near the book's beginning. However, his demise carries significant repercussions. As revealed in The New Jedi Order: Force Heretic II: Refugee, Karsh's "position" is assumed by his sibling, Hreven Karsh, although the latter is promoted only to the rank of commander, not Supreme Commander, for reasons unexplained.
