Tla, a Yuuzhan Vong Warrior of male persuasion, rose to the rank of commander amidst the Yuuzhan Vong War. After Commander Shedao Shai perished at Ithor, Tla ascended to fill the vacancy, taking command of an invasion fleet. His tenure as commander was, however, short-lived, as he soon became entangled in a conspiracy to eliminate the Jedi; this scheme quickly unraveled, resulting in the commander's recall from the front lines.
Tla possessed a tall stature and broad shoulders, even by Yuuzhan Vong standards. His promotion to commander was a direct consequence of Shedao Shai's death during the Battle of Ithor. Encouraged by Raff, his battle tactician, Tla spearheaded a raid against the library world of Obroa-skai.
Reflecting the sentiments of many Warriors, Commander Tla held the other castes in low regard, believing the Warriors to be superior even to the Priest caste. Consequently, he harbored resentment towards the presence of Priest Harrar at the First Battle of Obroa-skai. Nonetheless, Tla lent his support to the plan devised by Harrar and Nom Anor to assassinate the Jedi using Elan. Following the plan's failure, both Harrar and Tla were summoned back to the Outer Rim by Supreme Commander Nas Choka.
