Myrkr strike team

The Myrkr strike team consisted of a group of youthful Jedi, spearheaded by Padawan Anakin Solo, supported by a pair of YVH droids and other personnel. Their mission was to infiltrate the Yuuzhan Vong worldship named Baanu Rass orbiting Myrkr. The objective was to eliminate the voxyn queen during the Yuuzhan Vong War in 27 ABY. This operation was famously known as the Mission to Myrkr.

Result

Although Jacen Solo succeeded in destroying the voxyn queen, the mission's triumph was overshadowed by significant losses. Six Jedi, nearly half of the team, perished, including strike team commander Anakin Solo. Following the queen's demise, Jacen Solo was captured by Vergere. Raynar Thul's craft was seized by Nightsister Lomi Plo and Dark Jedi [Welk], and all three were believed to be lost during the departure from Myrkr. Jaina Solo and the remaining eight members of the strike team managed to commandeer Nom Anor's vessel, the Ksstarr, and successfully escaped Myrkr.

Legacy

Eight years later, the surviving members of the strike team received an urgent summons through the Force, originating from the Unknown Regions. These Jedi ventured into the Unknown Regions, where they were influenced by the Dark Nest. Alema Rar betrayed her Jedi companions, and all except Jacen (and Tenel Ka, who remained on Hapes due to her responsibilities as Queen Mother) became Joiners, their minds vulnerable to manipulation by Raynar Thul—now known as UnuThul—Welk, and Lomi Plo, who had survived the escape from Myrkr and crash-landed elsewhere. This influence marked the beginning of the Dark Nest Crisis, which ultimately led to the Swarm War. Five years after that conflict, Jacen Solo embraced the dark side and learned the ways of the Sith during the Second Galactic Civil War. He would later flow-walk with Tahiri back to the mission where she passionately kissed Anakin Solo before he was killed. Consequently, Tahiri joined Jacen in his attempt to bring peace to the galaxy. As Sith Lord Darth Caedus, Jacen met his end at the hands of his sister Jaina in 41 ABY.

Statistics

Prior to their departure from Eclipse Station, tactical assessments projected a 72% success rate for the mission, with a 2% decrease per standard hour. Once Anakin Solo implemented Plan D upon approaching Myrkr, the success rate plummeted to 21%, with casualty projections exceeding 90%. Ulaha Kore remained aboard the Exquisite Death to elevate the success rate to approximately 50%, which then decreased by 0.2% per standard minute. Given that the strike team persisted in their mission for at least thirty standard hours, it can be argued that they achieved the impossible against overwhelming odds.

Considering both Jedi and droids, 40% of the original strike team members were killed in action, 45% survived the mission and the subsequent escape, 10% were classified as missing in action, and 5% were captured by the enemy. Subsequently, 10% of the initial strike team survivors were killed later in the Yuuzhan Vong War. Around 78% of the strike team survivors in 35 ABY became Joiners or were partially influenced as Joiners.

Of the core members of the original strike team (excluding the Calrissians and Yarsroot), only eight individuals—Jaina Solo, Lowbacca, Tesar Sebatyne, Tahiri Veila, Raynar Thul, Tekli, Zekk, and Tenel Ka Djo—endured both the mission itself and its enduring repercussions.

Field operatives

Anakin Solo, holding the title of Strike team commander, was entrusted with detection of Yuuzhan Vong presences during the mission. He ultimately fell in battle, enabling the remaining Jedi to escape the slaughter. Jacen Solo, the second-in-command, was designated as the Meld coordinator, responsible for maintaining team morale. He also possessed expertise in animal behavior, which proved valuable when interacting with the bioforms of Vong technology. Jacen was captured and tortured by Vergere while the surviving team members fled Baanu Rass. Jaina Solo served as the third-in-command and the team's pilot. Her role was to locate and operate the hijacked Ksstarr to escape the worldship. Ganner Rhysode functioned as a decoy commander, drawing enemy fire away from Anakin Solo.

Jedi Zekk was responsible for scavenging equipment, gathering as many weapons as possible to support the operation. Tahiri Veila utilized her abilities to comprehend the Vongese language, serving as the team's translator. Lowbacca and his droid Em Teedee were the biomechanics specialists, while Tekli acted as the group's field medic. Tesar Sebatyne and Alema Rar were intended for stealth and underground infiltration tasks, but they were compelled to engage in direct combat alongside the rest of the team.

Ulaha Kore contributed her piloting and tactical analysis skills before being killed in action; Eryl Besa used her space navigation abilities before perishing on the worldship. Bela and Krasov Hara employed their stealth skills before meeting their demise, along with the team's sniper, Jovan Drark.

Dark Jedi Lomi Plo and Welk were discovered by Raynar Thul and Tenel Ka Djo, who were providing ground support for the team. The Dark Jedi hijacked the Tachyon Flier, the team's designated escape vehicle, along with Raynar. They were later found within a Killik hive during the Dark Nest Crisis.

In addition to the Jedi, the YVH-Series battle droid units YVH 2-1S and YVH 2-4S provided covering fire before being destroyed by the Yuuzhan Vong.

Supportive personnel and strategists

Lando Calrissian, under the alias of Fitzgibbon Lane, and his wife Tendra piloted the Lady Luck and transported the field operatives to the Yuuzhan Vong aboard the Exquisite Death. The chef, Yarsroot, and droid YVH 1-1A assisted in creating the illusion that Lane was delivering the Jedi to the Vong in exchange for payment.

From Eclipse Station, Luke Skywalker and the other Jedi present provided strategic guidance, along with the hopes and prayers of Han and Leia Solo.
