Galantos

Galantos was the second planet within the Utos system, situated in the Deep Core region. It occupied a position along the Widek Bypass, in proximity to the Koornacht Cluster. Its initial encounter with the broader galactic society occurred in ancient times; evidence suggests that at least one Fian served as a Jedi approximately 500 years prior to the First Great Schism.

The surface of the planet was characterized by expansive, light green, gelatinous formations punctuated by continental islands. The surface of Galantos exhibited rolling and shifting behaviors during significant storms. The islands experienced frequent seismic events, referred to as gelquakes, due to Galantos' crust being fragmented into moving tectonic plates. Similar to numerous other planets located in the Farlax sector, Galantos possessed abundant chromite deposits.

This gelatinous substance served as an organic medium, supplying essential nutrients to all life forms on the planet, notably including the native sentient Fia people. In order to safeguard their cities, the Fia constructed fortified structures and established a balloon-based transportation network to circumvent roads susceptible to groundquake activity. Notwithstanding their resourcefulness, the Fia showed a preference for the gelatinous environment and primarily occupied the landmasses for interactions with individuals from off-world.

The majority of non-Fia inhabitants resided in Gal'fian'deprisi, the capital city, which housed the planet's principal starport. This city served as the headquarters for the notorious Black Hammer Pirates.

Following his escape from the Purge and the Vector in 1 BBY, Han Solo, accompanied by Zahara Cody, Chewbacca, and Trig Longo, made landfall on Galantos. Solo and Chewbacca separated from the group to locate and recover the Millennium Falcon. Cody and Longo, after parting ways with Solo and Chewbacca, sought transportation to the planet Chandrila.

During the Black Fleet Crisis, Jobath Knox, the Councilor representing Galantos, journeyed to Coruscant to directly petition Leia Organa Solo, the Chief of State, awaiting an audience outside the Solo Family's residence. Acting beyond the established authority of her office, Leia admitted Galantos into the New Republic. In the course of the Yuuzhan Vong War, Galantos narrowly averted an attack by the Yuuzhan Vong, despite an agreement between the Fian and the Peace Brigade.
