The Galaxies Opera House functioned as an opera theater. Its location was in the Uscru District which itself was on the planet of Coruscant.

The upper reaches of the Uscru District housed the Galaxies Opera House, affording it a view of the levels situated below. The building featured a pair of grand, arched entryways designed to accommodate the arrival and departure of passengers via speeders. From these entrances, stairways provided access to interior corridors that encircled the main performance area. This central arena was circular, with seating arranged around its perimeter. During the decline of the Galactic Republic, Supreme Chancellor Palpatine possessed a private viewing box, strategically positioned to offer a prime perspective of the performances. Patrons considered a visit to the opera house a chance to distinguish themselves, embracing a philosophy that favored extravagant attire, including luxurious cloaks, ornate headdresses, striking patterns, and figure-hugging dresses.
Not long after the Battle of Coruscant, the Galaxies Opera House hosted a performance of the Mon Calamari theatrical work, Squid Lake. Chancellor Palpatine, during this performance, extended an invitation to Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker to join him. It was during this time that Palpatine, secretly the Dark Lord of the Sith Darth Sidious, recounted to Skywalker the tale of Darth Plagueis and his endeavors to overcome death. This narrative, coupled with Palpatine's manipulative tactics, proved to be a pivotal moment in drawing Skywalker closer to the dark side of the Force. Seated in the box adjacent to Palpatine was First Minister Tannon Praji of the Coruscant Ministry of Ingress, accompanied by their own guests, also observing the production.

The Galaxies Opera House remained operational throughout the New Republic era, serving for some as a symbol of Coruscant's potential resurgence.
In 9 ABY, Dr. Penn Pershing delivered a speech at the Galaxies Opera House. He discussed his past research regarding cloning, his recent acceptance into the Amnesty Program, and his willingness to support the New Republic.
The Galaxies Opera House made its initial appearance in the 2005 motion picture Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith. Ian McDiarmid expressed that the Galaxies Opera House scene stood out as a personal favorite within the entire saga, and he regarded it as one of the finest scenes ever conceived by George Lucas.
