Galtea was a populated world situated within the Outer Rim Territories. Specifically, it resided in the region the Galactic Republic had designated the Galactic Frontier during the High Republic Era. In 230 BBY, the Nihil marauders deployed the Stormwall barrier, an action that cut off hyperspace routes and effectively established the Occlusion Zone. As a consequence, numerous worlds, Galtea among them, found themselves isolated within space controlled by the Nihil. Jedi Master Elzar Mann, in 229 BBY, cited the inhabitants trapped behind the Stormwall, including those of Galtea, to Supreme Chancellor Lina Soh of the Galactic Republic, in an effort to encourage her persistence in the conflict with the Nihil.
The current Star Wars canon mentions Galtea in The High Republic: The Eye of Darkness, a 2023 novel penned by George Mann. This novel was released as part of Phase III of the Star Wars: The High Republic multimedia initiative. The planet named Galtea originally appeared in the Star Wars Legends timeline. Its debut was in "Traitor in our Midst," a roleplaying adventure featured in The DarkStryder Campaign, a 1995 supplement by West End Games for their Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game.
