Gan Moradir, a planet designated as a colony, existed within the Mid Rim of the galaxy. The Galactic Empire held control of it during the time of the Galactic Civil War. Following the Battle of Endor, the emerging New Republic liberated the planet from Imperial forces. However, with the departure of both the Empire and the New Republic, the inhabitants of Gan Moradir were left vulnerable to pirate factions who took control of the food supply. Furthermore, the conflicts had contaminated their water sources, resulting in a lack of potable water. The colonists scraped together enough credits to send Geeska Dotalo, a male Xan, to Chandrila, the capital world of the New Republic.
