Geeska Dotalo originated from Gan Moradir, a planet inhabited by the Xan species; he was male. Following the Galactic Civil War, Dotalo and others from his world grew disillusioned with the New Republic due to increased crime, destitution, and hunger. After confronting Olia Choko, a New Republic spokesperson, Olia felt sympathy and connected him with a New Republic representative.
During the Age of the Empire and the subsequent rise of the New Republic, there lived a Xan man named Geeska Dotalo. After the New Republic liberated his planet from the control of the Galactic Empire, Dotalo observed the emergence of pirate groups. These criminals exploited the absence of military forces on Gan Moradir to pilfer the colonists' [food](/article/foodstuff] supplies. Furthermore, the wells that served the Xan people were damaged during the conflicts between the Empire and the New Republic. Dotalo, along with his fellow colonists, felt both desperate and resentful towards the new government for abandoning them to their fate.
The colonists collectively gathered enough credits to dispatch Dotalo to Chandrila, the location of the Republic's Galactic Senate, placing all their hopes on his mission. In Hanna City, the Xan acquired a small selection of fruits and vegetables, which he proceeded to hurl at Olia Choko, the public relations officer for the newly formed Senate, while she was being interviewed on camera by the journalist Tracene Kane. Much to Dotalo's astonishment, Choko remained composed and requested that he step in front of the camera to articulate his grievances against the New Republic. Feeling apprehensive, the Xan hesitated, but ultimately recounted the situation on Gan Moradir, concluding his narrative in tears. Dotalo experienced another surprise when Choko invited him to address the Senate regarding his people and the challenges facing their colony. Shortly thereafter, Dotalo was placed in the care of a Republic official.
