Ghorin, a male Human, held the position of Imperial overlord for the Greater Plooriod Cluster during the initial stages of the Galactic Civil War. His domain was rich with several agricultural worlds, making him a crucial food provider for the Empire. Following the Battle of Yavin, Ghorin feigned support for the Alliance to Restore the Republic, offering to supply them with sustenance. However, this was merely a component of a deceitful scheme to poison Rebel troops using contaminated grain. The Rebels soon uncovered Ghorin's treachery and devised a plan to tarnish the overlord's reputation in the eyes of the Emperor. The operation succeeded, leading to the assumption that Ghorin had betrayed the Empire. He met his end through execution at the hands of Darth Vader himself, within his castle situated on Plooriod III.
During the reign of Emperor Palpatine, Ghorin, a male Human, stood as a staunch advocate for the Galactic Empire. By 0 ABY, he had risen to become the Imperial governor of the Greater Plooriod Cluster, a region of the galaxy abundant in agricultural worlds that were instrumental in supplying grain to the Empire. Ghorin, bearing the title of overlord, governed his territory from a sprawling castle that overlooked the ocean on Plooriod III. He quickly became known as a ruthless and astute leader.

Not long after the Battle of Yavin, where the Alliance to Restore the Republic obliterated the Death Star, an Imperial battle station capable of obliterating a planet using its power, the Rebels were compelled to evacuate their base on Yavin 4. The losses incurred during the escape from Yavin left them with critically depleted food reserves. Desperate for a new food source, the Rebels initiated a series of operations in the vicinity of the Ploo sector. Upon learning of the Alliance's predicament, Ghorin hatched a scheme to poison numerous Rebels by providing them with contaminated grain.
Ghorin, falsely claiming to have developed sympathy for the Rebellion, commenced negotiations with the Rebels to provide them with grain and potentially join their ranks. Despite his dubious reputation, which made the Rebels wary, their growing desperation left Ordnance and Supply Command with little alternative but to consider his offer. An initial shipment was arranged for delivery at a transfer point near the edge of the Greater Plooriod Cluster, and Ghorin dispatched three BFF-1 bulk freighters from the Transmor group to transport the tainted grain to the Rebels.
However, the Rebels harbored suspicions regarding Ghorin's true intentions and subjected the grain to rigorous testing before distributing it to their forces. Upon discovering that Ghorin had betrayed them, Alliance High Command conceived a plan to exact revenge on the overlord, codenamed Operation Grain Snatch. The CR90 corvette Halifax was transporting Ghorin's payment for a recent grain shipment to the Empire, escorted by six of his BTL Y-wing starfighters. Alliance starfighters and shuttles were dispatched to intercept the convoy. Rebel Y-wings disabled the Halifax and its escorts, enabling the shuttles to board and seize Ghorin's Y-wings and confiscate his payment as compensation.

Having acquired some of Ghorin's Y-wings, the Rebels plotted to employ them in a series of operations designed to discredit the overlord by convincing the Empire that Ghorin had betrayed them, not the Alliance. They initiated their plan by utilizing the Y-wings to destroy grain supplies at an Imperial storage facility in the Hollan D1 sector. Subsequently, they launched an assault on a convoy of CR90 corvettes transporting food to the Geedon system. Finally, the Rebels intercepted a convoy carrying grain from Ghorin to the Empire. After disabling the convoy ships, Rebel forces boarded them and replaced the crews. Furthermore, the convoy's cargo of grain was replaced with the tainted grain that Ghorin had previously provided to the Alliance. The entire operation was meticulously timed to conclude before the arrival of the Imperial-class Star Destroyer Badi Dea, at which point the Rebels aboard the convoy ships completed the delivery of the tainted grain to the Empire.
The operation proved successful, and after the poisoned grain was distributed to Imperial forces, Ghorin was presumed to be a traitor to the Empire. Upon receiving news of Ghorin's apparent betrayal, Emperor Palpatine dispatched the Dark Lord of the Sith Darth Vader to Plooriod III to confront him. Ghorin, unaware that he had been framed by the Rebels, greeted Vader in his throne room. However, the Dark Lord wasted no time on explanations and promptly executed the overlord.
Ghorin, distinguished by his black hair and blue eyes, was a portly individual with fair skin who governed the Greater Plooriod Cluster from a sprawling castle on Plooriod III. He reveled in his opulent surroundings, often seated on a throne while being fanned by servant droids. The overlord was renowned for his heavy-handed rule, with some drawing comparisons to Emperor Palpatine. It was this reputation that fueled the Alliance's suspicions and ultimately led to the discovery of his deception.
Ghorin was often seen wearing a purple dress uniform, complete with epaulets.
Ghorin's character was conceived for Star Wars: X-Wing Tour of Duty: Imperial Pursuit, which served as the inaugural expansion pack for the LucasArts video game Star Wars: X-Wing, released in 1994. The character is referenced in several briefings and makes an appearance in a single cut scene depicting his demise. The Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia, published in 2008, featured an entry for Ghorin that erroneously placed his castle on Plooriod IV, contradicting the Imperial Pursuit cut scene, which clearly depicts the castle on Plooriod III.
