Giju Glug was the name used by the people inhabiting the Colonies planet Giju to describe a bubbly, fruity beverage. This drink was a common offering at cantinas and tapcafes all over the world, and each establishment typically had its own selection of drinks. There were multiple versions of this beverage, with one particular variation featuring a layer of Blutopia pearls to enhance both its visual appeal and its taste. These pearls were positioned between the orange chunks at the bottom and a layer of clear liquid, all beneath crushed ice and a green leaf used as a garnish.
During a galactic culinary journey undertaken between 34 ABY and 35 ABY, the Artiodac chef Strono Tuggs sampled several renditions of Giju Glug on Giju. He then included the recipe for his preferred version—the one with Blutopia pearls—in his third cookbook, entitled The Ultimate Cookbook, which saw publication in 35 ABY.
Giju Glug was originally conceived as a recipe for the 2023 Star Wars: The Ultimate Cookbook, a recipe book authored by Jenn Fujikawa and Marc Sumerak. The out-of-universe recipe for the drink calls for diced peaches, mint, ginger ale, and Blutopia pearls, the latter of which is also a recipe detailed in the same book.
