The Grand Concourse, a vast, canyon-like corridor, encircled the Grand Convocation Chamber within the Senate Building on Coruscant. Originating from the Atrium of the Senate, it facilitated entry to the Senate Building's lower levels, while also spiraling upwards around the Senate Chamber. Turbolifts offered transportation to virtually any location within the structure.
Serving as a central hub inside the Senate Building, the Grand Concourse allowed passage to the entire building through numerous turbolifts or terminals positioned along its walls. This sizable pathway embraced the Grand Convocation Chamber, appearing as a division between the chamber and preparatory offices and the extensive delegation offices. Featuring a complex arrangement of balconies and bridges spanning the sloping gorge, the floors consisted of polished black stone, while the grey walls showcased the same impressionistic sculptures seen outside on the Avenue of the Core Founders.
While senatorial assistants and droids hurried through the hallways, high-ranking officials utilized private access turbolifts to reach upper levels and their personal offices. In the lower-level corridors, sections of the floor were recessed, functioning as seating areas, while others formed stairs or ramps leading to lower levels. Following the outbreak of the Clone Wars between the Republic and the Confederacy of Independent Systems, the Senate installed prominent proclamation boards high on the Concourse's walls to ensure that senators remained informed and current on the war's developments and Supreme Chancellor Palpatine's executive decrees.
Subsequent to the Yuuzhan Vong invasion of the capital planet, the Concourse was devastated, with the remaining areas overgrown with yorik coral.
