Greel wood, sometimes written as greel-wood, was a specific type of wood that came from the trees growing in the forests of Lothal's Far Hiradne region. It was possible to collect Greel-wood syrup from this wood; however, because the Galactic Empire engaged in deforestation on the planet, it became a scarce item.
Old Jho, an Ithorian, recalled greel-wood syrup originating from Far Hiradne with Holshef, a human poet, after having read his writings. Holshef mentioned that he used to be a sap collector's apprentice there. As their conversation went on, they made their way to a secluded spot in Old Jho's Pit Stop so they could savor a bottle of aged Hiradne syrup. In 9 BBY, Cal Kestis, a Jedi Knight, incorporated greel-wood when customizing his lightsaber.
