Grom Zian

Grom Zian, a Chagrian senator of the male persuasion, represented the world of Solu Five within the Galactic Senate of the Republic. However, as the Galactic War raged, the reconstituted Sith Empire successfully bribed him. Acting under the orders of General Arkos Rakton, he initiated a Senate inquiry designed to cripple the Special Forces unit known as Havoc Squad. This scheme was foiled when the unit's commander revealed Zian's treachery, using proof obtained by the Republic Strategic Information Service.

Biography

Zian held the senatorial seat for Solu Five. After being bribed by the Sith Empire, Zian, leveraging resources from Imperial Intelligence, gradually increased his influence within the Senate. As the Galactic War commenced, Zian, following instructions from General Arkos Rakton, initiated an investigation targeting the Republic Special Forces Division, with a particular focus on Havoc Squad, who Rakton considered his greatest adversaries. Rakton's objective was to have Havoc Squad suspended, thus shifting the war's momentum in his favor, by having Zian paint the squad's commander as reckless and uncontrollable.

During the official hearing, Zian began to enumerate accusations against Havoc Squad, citing the disappearance of Harron Tavus, the destruction of the Gauntlet superweapon (the initial cause of Rakton's aggressive campaign), and their perceived lack of commitment to the overall war effort. When the Havoc Squad Commander was given the opportunity to speak, they presented evidence, gathered by the SIS, that demonstrated Zian's connections to the Empire. Zian attempted to dismiss the proof as "baseless accusations" and "paranoid delusions", but Senator Zorin Krasul, whose life Havoc Squad had previously saved, insisted that the Havoc Squad CO deserved to be given credence. After the Senate Committee carefully examined the evidence, they instructed the Senate Guard to arrest Zian on charges of high treason. As he was being escorted away, Zian feebly claimed that the evidence had been fabricated as part of a military conspiracy.
