Gryphon, a world of high mountains, was a planet situated within the Inner Rim. Native to this planet was an indigenous species that existed in clan structures, perpetually engaged in warfare. Brock Lar was a member of this species, but he departed from Gryphon following the death of his youngest offspring.
The planet Gryphon came into existence through the efforts of Matthew Berry and Craig Farr. These two Star Wars enthusiasts conceived of it to provide the history for their Brock Lar submission to the Design An Alien competition featured in Star Wars Galaxy Magazines.
