Hollowtown, a sprawling botanic biosphere, was situated within Centerpoint Station.
Hollowtown existed as an exposed sphere, with a diameter spanning sixty kilometers. Its location was precisely at the center of the station, held in place by Centerpoint Station's tractor beam projector. The Glowpoint, the power source for the tractor beam projector, was positioned at Hollowtown's core, radiating light like a constant sun and providing a habitable environment within the sphere.
Over numerous generations, Hollowtown's walls had been inhabited, featuring homes, parks, lakes, orchards, and agricultural lands. Due to the Glowpoint's continuous illumination, Hollowtown experienced perpetual daylight. To simulate a day/night cycle, residents commonly used programmed blocks of transparisteel above their residences, which "dimmed" to create a sense of night. These "shadow-shields" were heavily personalized by their owners with various decorations. Located on either side of the Hollowtown sphere, aligned with the spin axis, were large cones surrounded by six smaller cones; these sets were known as the North and South Conical Mountains. These cones formed part of the tractor beam projector's operational mechanisms. Conical Six, one of the southern cones, was the property of the Five Brothers Resort and Casino.
Around 100,000 BBY, the chamber, along with the station itself, was constructed from materials extracted from asteroids by the Killiks under the direction of the Celestials. Subsequently, the chamber's tractor beam was employed to construct the Corellian system by drawing planets into orbit around the star Corell, and the Maw black hole cluster, with the purpose of containing a powerful entity known as Abeloth.
Following the disintegration of the Infinite Empire and the slave rebellion in the Corellian System in 25,200 BBY, freed slaves began to populate Centerpoint Station. Although the colonists were unaware of the origins of Centerpoint Station or its intended use, they discovered that the Glowpoint within the tractor beam projector's chamber offered a habitable environment comparable to any fertile planet. Consequently, some chose to settle within the chamber, establishing Hollowtown. For many generations, Hollowtown's farms supplied ample food for the station, and the inhabitants thrived under the Glowpoint's light.
In 18 ABY, the Sacorrian Triad, the ruling body of the planet Sacorria in the Corellian sector, sought to secede from the New Republic and establish an independent nation. After extensive study of Centerpoint Station, their scientists uncovered the capabilities of its powerful tractor beam. Testing the beam on TD-10036-EM-1271, a star located in the Expansion Region, they witnessed its destructive potential when it exploded. The Triad then resolved to leverage the threat of the station's destructive force to negotiate their independence.
When the tractor beam was activated, the Glowpoint surged to temperatures of several thousand degrees. The resulting incineration killed everyone in Hollowtown, destroying structures and farms and vaporizing all water. The fires consumed most of the chamber's oxygen, necessitating the installation of a comprehensive air system in the turbolift car leading to the chamber by Centerpoint Station's technicians. The destruction of Hollowtown led to the station's abandonment by its population. The government of the nearby double worlds, Talus and Tralus, suppressed information about the event, attributing it to a terrorist attack.
Shortly thereafter, the Sacorrian Triad initiated their insurrection, during which they deployed the tractor beam multiple times, obliterating the star Thanta Zilbra and nearly destroying the star Bovo Yagen.
In 40 ABY, the remnants of Hollowtown were obliterated when Centerpoint Station fired upon itself during the Battle of Centerpoint Station in the Second Galactic Civil War.
