Hyabb existed as a planet situated within the Core Worlds' Krenher sector. This world was located along the Hyabb-Twith Corridor hyperlane, connecting it with the world of Twith. A perpetual war raged between Hyabb and Twith, almost since the foundation of the Galactic Republic, with both planets becoming members by 17,000 BBY. During the Alsakan Conflicts, Hyabb chose to support Coruscant against Alsakan, which had formed an alliance with Twith.
Several decades prior to 4050 BBY, both Hyabb and Twith were subjected to the rule of the Nelori Marauders, a band of outlaws who established their base within the Hyabb-Twith Corridor. The hyperlane, acting as a lawless zone between the warring planets, allowed the Marauders to freely exploit both Hyabb and Twith, as well as neighboring star systems. Ultimately, the Jedi Order of the Republic defeated the Nelori, liberating Hyabb and Twith from the control of the criminals.
Hyabb was a planet that could be found in the Hyabb system, which itself was part of the Core Worlds' Krenher sector. Its location placed it at one end of the hyperlane referred to as the Hyabb-Twith Corridor, providing a connection to the Voon system and, ultimately, the Twith system.
A state of constant war existed between Hyabb and the nearby planet of Twith, lasting for almost as long as the Galactic Republic had been around, since its foundation in 25,053 BBY. This resulted in the Hyabb-Twith Corridor becoming, in effect, a largely deserted area between the two heavily armed planets. Neither Hyabb nor Twith was willing to risk the consequences of sending patrol ships into the contested territory, and nearby star systems were actively discouraged from entering the zone as well.

By 17,000 BBY, both Hyabb and Twith were within the Republic's borders, and they found themselves on opposing sides during the early Alsakan Conflicts. These conflicts, a series of wars that began around 17,018 BBY, saw Twith align itself with the planet Alsakan in its struggle against the planet Coruscant for the position of the Republic's capital. Hyabb, however, remained loyal to Coruscant.
Several decades before 4050 BBY, the Nelori Marauders, a group consisting of warriors, pirates, and outlaws, were forced to leave their homeworld of Dachat. Capitalizing on the existing tensions between Hyabb and Twith, the Nelori Marauders established their new main base on the planet Voon. Because neither Hyabb nor Twith could risk taking action against the bandits, the Nelori exploited the governments of both planets, effectively oppressing both worlds.
In addition, the Nelori Marauders raided starships both within the Hyabb-Twith Corridor and in the surrounding systems. As the Nelori's area of control began to extend further into Republic territory, the Jedi Order dispatched a force of Jedi Knights to eliminate the threat posed by the Marauders. Following a series of battles known as the Hyabb-Twith Campaigns, the Jedi achieved victory over the Nelori, dismantling their power and liberating both Hyabb and Twith.
Hyabb was first mentioned in the Tales of the Jedi Companion, a sourcebook from 1996 written by George R. Strayton and released for use with Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game by West End Games. It received an entry in the 2008 The Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia, which confirmed Hyabb as a planet. The 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas located the Hyabb system, and therefore the planet itself, within grid square K-9.
