The Imperial Election in 44 ABY marked a historic moment: the first time citizens within the territory of the Imperial Remnant cast ballots to choose their Head of State. The individuals vying for this position included the current Head of State, Jagged Fel, alongside Natasi Daala, previously the Galactic Alliance Chief of State, and Admiral Vitor Reige.
Abeloth, disguised as Lieutenant Lydea Pagorski, manipulated Natasi Daala into believing that a general election offered the optimal path for her to seize control of the Imperial Remnant. Motivated by a desire for retribution against Jagged Fel for his role in the Jedi' pursuit of her from Coruscant, Daala successfully pushed Fel to organize the election. Subsequently, Fel persuaded Vitor Reige to participate in the election with the intention of dividing the military vote, which was largely expected to favor Daala. Furthermore, Fel authorized an attack on Daala's campaign center located on Hagamoor 3, the site where Tol Getelles conducted experiments involving drochs.
On election day, the candidates engaged in a final debate just hours before the polling stations opened. Fel initiated the debate with an opening statement, informing the populace that he had formalized an agreement with INN (Imperial News Network), guaranteeing their freedom from censorship by the military, the Moffs, or the Head of State. Following this, he publicly admitted to ordering the destruction of Daala's headquarters and detailed the nature of the experiments carried out there. With corroborating testimony from Getelles, Daala found herself unable to refute the accusations. Fel then declared his withdrawal from the election, requesting that his name be removed from the ballots and resigning from his position as Head of State, while simultaneously endorsing Reige. The revelation of the droch experimentation, coupled with Fel's endorsement, significantly influenced public sentiment, enabling Reige to secure a comfortable victory in the election.
