Imperial research facility (Nubia)

An Imperial scientific research center functioned on the world of Nubia throughout the time of the Galactic Civil War.

History

Around the time that the Battle of Yavin occurred, the GeneTech Syndicate, which was a biotechnology firm located on the world of Talus, inside the Corellian system, was executing a perilous bioengineering endeavor known as the Parasophic Arachne program. The goal of this program was the development of a highly intelligent and formidable type of arachnes for utilization by the Galactic Empire. These arachnes were intended for deployment on planets the Empire wished to deny to its adversaries, without committing its own troops. Although the creatures would completely devastate the indigenous ecosystem, the planet would be effectively made unlivable.

In the year 1 ABY, the project achieved success, and Doctor Vigh, who was the chief scientist at the GeneTech Syndicate, made the decision to transport the initial specimens to the Empire. The bioengineered arachnes were placed onto a transport ship that was bound for the Imperial research facility situated on Nubia. Nevertheless, shortly after taking off, the transport experienced a crash in the mountainous terrain close to the city of Nashal, resulting in the arachnes' escape into the surrounding wilderness. Furthermore, the arachnes held within the GeneTech Syndicate laboratory managed to break free from their confinement and overpower their creators. Eventually, the Corellian Security Force discovered that the majority of the laboratory's personnel had been brutally killed by the creatures.
