Serving the Republic Navy, the Intercessor was a Valor-class cruiser that saw action in numerous engagements of the Great Galactic War against the forces of the Sith Empire. During the First Battle of Bothawui in 3671 BBY, the Intercessor participated as a component of the Republic defense fleet for Bothawui. It also managed to survive the Battle of Hoth six years later, escaping with minimal damage. However, more than two decades afterward, in 3642 BBY at the outset of the Galactic War, the Intercessor sustained critical damage from an Imperial ambush that occurred above Vondoru. Shortly after that, the Valor-class cruiser and its accompanying reinforcements were destroyed by the highly skilled Empire's Fury squadron.
The Intercessor, a Valor-class cruiser distinguished by its hump-backed design, measured over 500 meters in overall length. Its design featured a command tower on the upper hull and a tower extending from the lower hull that housed three main engines and four auxiliary engines. The ship was equipped with multiple hangars along its flanks, originally capable of accommodating a full complement of 110 starfighters, including Liberator-class starfighters, along with 25 shuttles, and 40 bombers.
Sometime prior to 3671 BBY, the Intercessor was constructed. In that year, during the Great Galactic War, the Intercessor fought in the First Battle of Bothawui against the forces of the Sith Empire. Following the Republic triumph at Bothawui, the Intercessor was assigned to a Republic Navy task force responsible for guarding a fleet of prototype warships as they prepared to assault the Empire's capital on Dromund Kaas. The fleet was ambushed by the Imperial Navy, and the Intercessor endured the multi-day conflict, ultimately becoming one of the few vessels to successfully flee the final stages of the battle above the planet Hoth.
Throughout the remainder of the Great Galactic War and the subsequent Cold War, the ship continued its service in the Navy until the Galactic War began in 3642 BBY. In that year, while positioned above the planet Vondoru, the ship was ambushed by the Imperial Navy. Three Terminus-class destroyers engaged the Intercessor and its escort, consisting of three Thranta-class corvettes. Subsequently, the damaged Intercessor was attacked and destroyed by the elite Empire's Fury squadron.
The Intercessor initially appeared in "Clouds of Vondoru," a level 44, fourth-tier space combat mission in BioWare's 2011 video game Star Wars: The Old Republic for the Imperial faction. The mission's introductory sequence mentions the ship's involvement in both the Battle of Bothawui and the Battle of Hoth, though this must be a reference to the initial battle at Bothawui, as the second was a ground-based engagement. Given that any class can undertake the mission, this article presupposes only that the character was one of the four Imperial classes.
