Ithorian herd ship

Ithorian herd ships constituted a type of enormous city-ship that the Ithorians utilized as a mobile habitat. These vessels were modeled after the repulsorlift-supported herd-cities found on their planet, but were sealed to enable spacefaring capabilities. These ships traverse the galaxy along a specific route dictated by the herd, but they make a return trip to Ithor every three years for a gathering known as the Herd Meet.

The starships which docked with and stayed on the herd ship for a period were called Ph'thwyll by the Ithorians, likening them to a fungus that clings to the seedpods of the Johinuu tree. This designation was exclusive to private conversations among Ithorians.

On the planet Auratera, the Ithorian city of Dewbright was built on raised platforms above the planet's surface, mirroring the design principles of Ithorian herd ships.
