Ithor

Ithor, the homeworld of the Ithorian species, whose language was Ithorese, was a planet situated within the Mid Rim region of the galaxy. It was forbidden to hunt in Ithor's vast jungles, as they were held as sacred.

Description

Within the [New Territories](/article/new_territories] area of the [Mid Rim Territories](/article/mid_rim_territories] of the galaxy, Ithor, a planet of the Ottega system, could be found. Its coordinates on the Standard Galactic Grid were M-6. The vast jungles of Ithor were considered sacred, and hunting was strictly prohibited. The flora consisted of the thick n'lor trees, carnivorous johinuu trees, various green and rust-colored bushes, and expanses of blue and pink edible fungi. The molsume, a rare and dangerous creature, and the toscwon were among the fauna.

History

The Ithorians, who revered the Mother Jungle, pledged a long time ago to preserve the pristine condition of their home planet. They relocated their herds to massive floating cities that floated in Ithor's skies, and eventually into the vastness of space. The planet served as the focal point for a triennial Herd Meet, an assembly that drew every Ithorian herd ship.

Sometime in the past, the Galactic Republic Navy engaged in a battle on the planet against a ruthless group of pirates who were battling against Jedi Master Oorrl Morm. After Morm's sacrifice, which slowed down the pirates' attacks, a Republic Navy warship showed up and arrested the criminals.

Jho, an Ithorian, departed Ithor to make a home on Lothal, where he ran a cantina known as Old Jho's Pit Stop. At one point, Momaw Nadon, an Ithorian rebel sympathizer, was compelled to reveal Ithorian agricultural technology secrets to the Galactic Empire to protect his homeworld from being destroyed.

In 5 ABY, the Super Star Destroyer Annihilator, under the command of Eleodie Maracavanya, boarded the New Republic CR90 corvette Starfall, which was on a diplomatic mission to enlist Ithor into the fledgling galactic government led by Senator Tia'dor Emshwa.

Inhabitants

The Ithorian species, who communicated in Ithorese, called Ithor their homeworld.
