Located within the Ividal system, which itself resided in the Slice region of the Mid Rim, was the astronomical body known as Ividal. During the time of the Clone Wars, Ividal served as a base for the Foxfire Squadron, a unit belonging to the Ividal Sector Forces. This squadron was equipped with Z-95 Headhunter starfighters.
During that same period of conflict, the Galactic Republic's military forces enlisted the Foxfire Squadron to conduct a bombing attack targeting Separatist starfighter installations situated on Ongary IX. The day after the Republic successfully destroyed one of the Separatist bases, the Foxfire Squadron's starfighters were being transported back to Ividal aboard a Republic Venator-class Star Destroyer. However, Jorn Kulish, one of the pilots from Foxfire Squadron, chose to leave the military after his experience during the Ongary IX attack. He instead departed on the Stellar Envoy, a Coreward-bound freighter.
The initial intention was for Ividal to be presented in The Essential Guide to Warfare, a reference book from 2012 authored by Jason Fry and Paul R. Urquhart. Nevertheless, the specific section that would have featured this celestial object was removed before the book was published.
Later, in 2014, details about Ividal were revealed through Star Wars: The Essential Guide to Warfare Author's Cut, a collection of articles posted on the StarWars.com Blog by Fry and Erich Schoeneweiss. These articles contained content that had been cut from The Essential Guide to Warfare. The Online Companion to the 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas on StarWars.com placed the Ividal system, and thus Ividal itself, within grid square P-14.
