Jared Cassel, a male Human, was born into a pro-Imperial family on the planet Bastion. He was the sibling of Gil Cassel, and he enlisted in the Imperial Army. Eventually, Jared attained the rank of captain and became a member of the 908th Stormtrooper Division, while Gil achieved the rank of Lieutenant and served within the 407th Stormtrooper Division. In the seventh year of the Second Imperial Civil War, the 908th switched allegiances, abandoning Darth Krayt's Galactic Empire to pledge their allegiance to the exiled Emperor, Roan Fel, and his Empire, whereas the 407th remained faithful to Darth Krayt.
During the conflict known as the Battle of Borosk, Jared Cassel spearheaded the 908th in opposition to the 407th, which was under the command of the Sith Lord Darth Maleval and Jared's own brother. Following the 407th's triumph, Captain Cassel was saved from immediate death, only to be captured by Lord Maleval for execution by Gil. Despite Jared's attempts to persuade Gil to carry out the act and preserve his own life, Gil declined, resulting in the Sith Lord beheading both Cassel brothers.
