Jedi of the Republic – Mace Windu 2

On a world shrouded in near-constant darkness, the Jedi are tasked with delivering light. Mace encounters trials that test both his beliefs and his combat prowess. The question arises: is engaging in warfare truly the Jedi's purpose?

Mace Windu, Kit Fisto, Prosset Dibs, together with Rissa Mano, venture into the subterranean caverns of Hissrich, in the company of several indigenous lifeforms. Windu and Fisto engage in a discussion regarding the nature of these creatures, with Windu expressing his perception that they harbor no ill intent. The Jedi are escorted to the heart of the cave system, where they once again endeavor to discern the connection between their observations and the Separatist presence. Mano comes across one of the creatures attending to a malfunctioning battle droid.

Concurrently, at the droid base, AD-W4 verifies that all of his droid forces are prepared for deployment. Upon detecting an anomaly in Sector S2C, AD-W4 declares his intention to personally lead the escort, citing his desire to confront the Jedi directly.

Mano examines the damaged droid, determining that it remains operational, although her attempts to access its memory banks are interrupted by the arrival of Separatist forces. The Jedi observe as the caves begin to collapse and vegetation is uprooted, followed by a substantial explosion that introduces droids through a newly formed opening in the surface. Windu confronts the destroyers, while Fisto, Dibs, and Mano focus on safeguarding the native inhabitants. After Windu neutralizes the droids, he encounters AD-W4. A brief exchange transpires between the two before Windu issues a challenge to AD-W4. As Fisto, Dibs, and Mano continue their battle, Mano questions the identity of Windu's opponent. Windu and AD-W4 debate matters of conscience and financial gain, culminating in AD-W4 launching debris at Windu, causing him to fall off a cliff before being rescued by Fisto. Mano and Windu collaborate to confront AD-W4, ascending one of the plants before Windu identifies a droid harvesting them. Suddenly, both Jedi realize the Separatists' motive for being there: these plants offer a substantial energy source due to their photosynthetic properties. Windu and Mano proceed to destroy the harvesting units. Dibs and Fisto engage more droids as they realize the cave is collapsing.

Windu and Mano reach an elevated position and witness a multitude of droids engaged in harvesting the plants. The comic concludes with Mace delivering a somber prediction that Hissrich will face total destruction if no intervention occurs.
