Jedi of the Republic – Mace Windu 3, the third installment of the canon comic book miniseries Star Wars: Jedi of the Republic – Mace Windu, hit shelves on October 25, 2017. Marvel Comics published the issue, which was penned by Matt Owens and brought to life with illustrations by Denys Cowan.
The comic begins by flashing back to a meeting between AD-W4 and General Grievous. Grievous briefs him on the Hissrich mission, mentioning the possibility of Jedi intervention. AD-W4 makes it clear that his motivation is credits, not loyalty to the Separatist cause.
Back on Hissrich, Rissa Mano and Mace Windu are shown locked in combat with battle droids. Windu targets a harvester droid, ultimately destroying it with Mano's lightsaber. The two Jedi then decide to press on in search of the primary Separatist base.
Elsewhere, Kit Fisto and Prosset Dibs find themselves in a completely dark cave, where they exchange jokes about Dibs' inability to see. They then encounter and kill a Milodon.
Grievous inquires about the Hissrich operation's status with AD-W4, who assures him that everything is proceeding as planned. When Grievous asks about the Jedi, AD-W4 claims that Windu is dead. Grievous demands proof in the form of Jedi lightsabers. AD-W4 then asks one of his battle droids for the lightsabers, but they are not present. This causes the mercenary to destroy the droid in a fit of anger before walking off.
Windu and Mano decide to return to their ship to report that the droids are actively searching for them. Meanwhile, Fisto and Dibs discover the bodies of the native population that they were trying to protect. Dibs becomes enraged, questioning how this fulfills the Jedi's duty. As rain falls, Dibs and Fisto head back to the ship as AD-W4 continues his search.
Dibs confronts Windu, accusing him of lying and stating that the Jedi Council is exploiting the Jedi, rejecting the Order's current path. Windu dismisses these claims as absurd, leading to a heated argument that Fisto attempts to defuse by holding Mano back. The comic concludes with Windu challenging Dibs to a duel to resolve their disagreement.
