Milodon

Milodons were insects that resembled centipedes, lacking sentience. These creatures were native to the planet Quarzite, specifically the caves there, and were utilized as mounts by the local Kage people. They also existed on Hissrich, where one of them launched an attack against Jedi Masters Kit Fisto and Prosset Dibs during the Clone Wars conflict. Subsequently, during the rescue operation for Pluma Sodi, Kage Warriors employed milodons.

Biology and appearance

Milodons were large, rapidly moving insects resembling centipedes, and they were non-sentient. Each possessed a pair of luminous eyes on each side of its head. These carnivorous beings possessed 24 legs enabling them to achieve speeds comparable to subtrams. Additionally, they had four sharp mandibles equipped with pincers, along with sensory feelers.

Milodons dwelling on Quarzite displayed carapaces featuring a mottled pattern of purple and brown, accompanied by yellow eyes. In contrast, those residing on Hissrich had green carapaces and light green eyes.

Milodons in the galaxy

Originating from the deep crystal caves of the planet Quarzite, milodons were mounts used by the Kage inhabitants. The Kage rode them to transport both individuals and goods across significant distances. These creatures also inhabited caves found on Hissrich, where one assaulted Jedi Masters Kit Fisto and Prosset Dibs early in the Clone Wars. However, the Jedi were able to fend it off using their lightsabers. In the year 20 BBY, Kage Warriors deployed several of these quick-moving creatures to intercept and board a speeding subtram, in order to rescue the captured warrior Pluma Sodi, who was the sister of the Kage Warrior leader Krismo Sodi.

Behind the scenes

The first, albeit uncredited, appearance of milodons occurred in "Bounty," the twentieth episode of Star Wars: The Clone Wars' fourth season, a canon animated series. This episode was initially broadcast on March 2, 2012. Their identification was later provided in the episode guide for "Bounty," which was available on StarWars.com.
