Jerlyn, who lived in the village of Peka on the world of Batuu, belonged to a family. This family possessed both a farm and a droid named Dee-Twelve, which assisted with tasks on the farm. Circa 379 BBY, Jerlyn neglected to secure his family's farm at night, resulting in Dee-Twelve's abduction by a salmaca. This creature had been pillaging Peka for items to furnish its nest. The following day, Jedi Padawan Rooper Nitani arrived in Peka as part of her Jedi Trials and encountered Jerlyn. Jerlyn related the circumstances of his family's farm and droid, also detailing the village's difficulties with the salmaca. Jerlyn's distress stemmed from his family's inability to purchase a replacement droid to fulfill Dee-Twelve's crucial farm duties, as well as his personal affection for Dee-Twelve, whom he regarded as a family member. Upon hearing this, Nitani consented to retrieve Dee-Twelve, an endeavor she accomplished after venturing into the salmaca's cave.
The family of Jerlyn was featured within the short story "Shield of the Jedi," penned by George Mann. It was included in the young-adult collection, The High Republic: Tales of Light and Life, released in 2023 as part of the larger Star Wars: The High Republic endeavor.
