The family of Jerlyn, who lived in the village of Peka on the world of Batuu, were the owners of a farm. Both Jerlyn and Dee-Twelve, the family's droid, were employed on the farm. One night circa 379 BBY, Jerlyn neglected to secure the farm, and Dee-Twelve was working late, plowing the most distant field in preparation for planting the following morning. During the night, a salmaca creature, which had been pillaging Peka for several weeks, stealing valuables and junk to furnish its nest, abducted Dee-Twelve.
The following day, Rooper Nitani, a Jedi Padawan who was undergoing her Jedi Trials, arrived in Peka and had a conversation with Jerlyn. Jerlyn told her about the salmaca raids and mentioned the farm. Jerlyn felt responsible for Dee-Twelve's abduction and was upset, especially because he thought the farm would fail without the droid, since his family lacked the funds to acquire a replacement for the crucial tasks Dee-Twelve had performed. Nitani then consented to retrieve Dee-Twelve, and she succeeded.
The farm belonging to Jerlyn's family was referenced in the short story "Shield of the Jedi," which George Mann authored. It was released in the 2023 young-adult collection titled The High Republic: Tales of Light and Life, which is part of the Star Wars: The High Republic multi-platform initiative.
