Jira, hailing from Tatooine, was a female of the human species. During the Naboo Crisis, this older woman, Jira, made her living by vending fruits like pallies within the Mos Espa marketplace. She maintained a friendly relationship with Anakin Skywalker, who was then a slave boy of nine years.
Jira resided on the desert planet Tatooine, situated in the Outer Rim Territories, during the closing decades of the Galactic Republic. At the time the Naboo Crisis unfolded, she operated a modest stall in the market of Mos Espa, trading in various food items, notably pallies. Jira shared a bond of friendship with Anakin Skywalker, then a young slave boy of nine. Upon learning of the elderly woman's need for a cooling unit, Skywalker volunteered to find one for her. When her young friend Skywalker encountered the Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn, Jira sold the pair some pallies. Sensing the imminent arrival of a sandstorm through her experienced intuition, she urged Skywalker to return home without delay. A few days later, Jira's young companion departed Tatooine in the company of Qui-Gon Jinn. The boy's mother, Shmi, remained on the planet. Encountering her in the market, Jira encouraged her to stay strong, assuring her that Anakin was now in a better situation. Shmi appeared to agree with this idea, yet still longed for her son's presence.
Jira was a female human with green eyes. As she aged, she styled her gray hair into loosely arranged braids. Despite her impoverished circumstances, Jira remained a cheerful and remarkably kind-hearted individual. She held a special affection for her young friend Anakin Skywalker, referring to him as "the kindest boy in the galaxy."
