John Wayne (born on May 26, 1907 and died on June 11, 1979) was a performer from the United States of America. His very last film credit involved voicing the character Garindan ezz Zavor in Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope, a 1977 film that was part of the original trilogy. The audio, which was sourced from existing recordings, was manipulated and integrated into Garindan's lines, delivered in the distinctive, whirring tones of the Kubazian language. The A New Hope voice of Garindan was later implemented again in the video games LEGO Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy and LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga. Wayne's performances in Western motion pictures, for example The Searchers and True Grit, provided inspiration for both the cantina scene and the Han Solo character featured in A New Hope. Brendan Wayne, his grandson, also appeared in The Mandalorian.
