Jour-un

Jour-un served as a significant port city and a central location for trade on the planet of Bardotta.

Overview

Established around 6000 BBY within a natural harbor situated in a slender fjord, Jour-un found itself completely enclosed by the steep granite cliffs that formed Bardotta's mountains. To facilitate overland trade, the inhabitants of the city built a winding, zigzagging path that ascended the cliff face. In its prime, the port at Jour-un was the most important trade location on the planet, due to its access to watercraft. Eventually, the maritime industry gave way to off-planet shipping, resulting in the port's transformation into a spaceport located further inland. The original harbor area was redeveloped into residential and business areas, featuring floating buildings linked by a system of canals and bridges.

The city's administrative body diligently oversaw commerce, safeguarding the interests of the Dagoyan Order by preventing the illegal export of ancient relics. The City Guard was responsible for maintaining law and order, with its officers patrolling the streets and utilizing informants at the spaceport to guarantee adherence to the regulations. Gondolas were propelled along the waterways of the former harbor, transporting some of the most important merchants in the galaxy to their various meetings.
