The Kallig family represented a lineage of individuals attuned to the Force, beginning with Aloysius Kallig. Aloysius Kallig was a formidable Sith Lord who acted as the primary lieutenant to Tulak Hord, only to be killed when Hord betrayed him. The Kallig family's reputation diminished over numerous generations until a descendant, a one-time slave who later became the Sith apprentice of Darth Zash, discovered the spectral presence of Aloysius Kallig within the Dark Temple situated on Dromund Kaas. In time, Zash plotted to double-cross her apprentice inside Kallig's tomb, which seemingly led to her demise and her apprentice claiming the title of Lord Kallig. With Aloysius's support, his successor ultimately ascended to the rank of Darth Nox, securing a position on the Dark Council. This youthful Dark Lord resurrected their family's honor, gaining recognition as the successor to both Kallig and Tulak Hord by Khem Val, Hord's most devoted and powerful servant.
Kallig's Countenance and Kallig's lightsaber constituted the family's inherited relics.
