The Kegan system shared its designation with Kegan.
Within existing Star Wars canon, Kegan's initial reference occurred in "Visiting Saleucami," a piece featured in the "Guide to the Galaxy" section of the Star Wars: Build the Millennium Falcon 44 magazine by De Agostini, released around November 4, 2015. The location's genesis lies in the Star Wars Legends universe, debuting in Jude Watson's 2000 book, Jedi Apprentice: The Fight for Truth.
