The Foundry of the Confederacy was a territory situated within both the Mid Rim Territories and the Outer Rim Territories, functioning under the control of the Confederacy of Independent Systems. During the Clone Wars conflict, a number of the Confederacy's factory worlds, including the planets Boz Pity, Felucia, Metalorn, and Saleucami, were established within the Foundry's boundaries. However, in the final year of the Clone Wars, during the period known as the Outer Rim Sieges, the Galactic Republic prioritized the Foundry, initiating a series of sieges targeting the Confederacy's factory worlds throughout the region. Consequently, the Confederate government was forced to relinquish control of Boz Pity, Felucia, and Saleucami as the Republic successfully besieged these planets.
The Foundry of the Confederacy constituted an area found within the Slice part of the Mid Rim Territories and the Outer Rim Territories. Under the authority of the Confederacy of Independent Systems throughout the Clone Wars, the Foundry acted as a hub for numerous Confederate factory planets and industrial complexes, including the infamous "Triad of Evil" planets Felucia and Saleucami, situated within the Suolriep and Thanium sectors respectively, as well as the planets of Boz Pity and Metalorn. Furthermore, with the Perlemian Trade Route and Talcene Transit hyperspace routes running through it, the Mid Rim planet of Kashyyyk was strategically positioned near the Foundry, located at a junction of several hyperspace routes.

During 21 BBY, amidst the Clone Wars between the Galactic Republic and the Confederacy of Independent Systems, Saleucami was the location for a battle between Republic forces and a Separatist fleet led by the Kaleesh Separatist General Grievous. However, despite the apparent restoration of peace after the battle's conclusion, the Confederacy's military leaders returned to Saleucami and recognized its potential for their construction efforts. As a result, the Confederate government transformed Saleucami into a distribution center for manufactured war supplies originating from the Foundry of the Confederacy, further enhanced by the planet's proximity to the secure regional Salin Corridor hyperspace route, which the Confederacy employed for the movement of its convoys as conflicts intensified along the Perlemian Trade Route.
Subsequently, during the Outer Rim Sieges in the final year of the Clone Wars, which brought the Separatist Alliance close to defeat, the Grand Army of the Republic's 12th Sector Army set its sights on the planets situated within the Foundry. However, despite the economic and military pressures facing the Confederacy, Head of State Count Dooku and Supreme Martial Commander of the Separatist Droid Armies General Grievous launched a surprise attack on the Republic capital world of Coruscant with the intent of kidnapping Supreme Chancellor Sheev Palpatine. Although the attack failed, resulting in Dooku's death and Grievous's retreat into the Outer Rim, the war persisted as the Mid Rim planet Kashyyyk was assaulted by the Confederate forces, given its strategic location near the Foundry at a nexus of hyperspace routes. This strategic positioning alone made Kashyyyk a valuable target, but the Separatists also sought to gain control of the Claatuvac Guild's data vault in Kachirho. Nevertheless, the Confederacy was defeated in the battle for the Wookiee homeworld.
The Foundry of the Confederacy was initially referenced within the new Star Wars canon in Star Wars: Battles that Changed the Galaxy, a 2021 reference book written by Jason Fry.
