Kessel Station Holding Cell

The central Golan platform is adjoined by Kessel Station Holding Cells The Kessel Station Holding Cells consisted of six Type 2 Cargo Facilities that functioned as penal institutions located at Kessel.

Characteristics

These six Holding Cells at Kessel Station were integral components of the expansive Kessel Station, a prison orbiting the notorious Imperial prison world of Kessel. Kessel Station was responsible for managing records of all inmates, while the holding cells served as the physical locations for prisoner confinement. Positioned on either side of the Station, three cells were situated on each flank, vertically stacked one atop the other.

History

In 4 ABY, a year not long before the pivotal Battle of Endor, Antan Azzameen of the Azzameen family gathered the remaining members of his family to execute a rescue mission at this very facility. Antan informed his nephews, Ace and Emon, along with his niece Aeron, that their presumed dead father Tomaas and brother Galin were, in fact, still alive. They had been lost during an ambush orchestrated by Imperial forces at the Rebel Hospital some months prior, but Antan insisted that they had been captured and subsequently imprisoned on Kessel. Consequently, he led his entire family to Kessel Station with the intention of liberating their father and brother. Although the Azzameens neither docked at the Holding Cells nor attempted to search them, the six facilities were visible during the operation. However, the so-called rescue mission was revealed to be a carefully constructed deception by Antan, designed to deliver his family into the hands of the Imperial authorities. Following this betrayal, Antan absconded aboard his personal starship, the Big Score.

With assistance from Dunari, a family friend and cargo dealer, Antan's family successfully escaped.
