A specific type of escape pod was discovered on the Kilji Illumine government's war cruiser named Anvil. These compact, metal vessels included a viewport, thrusters for propulsion, and an automatic beacon that would broadcast its location upon ejection. A Kilji escape pod occupant could survive for a number of hours before their oxygen supply was depleted. Two pods were located on General Crofyp's Anvil: one was situated on the portside of the bridge, behind a door with an orange border, and the other was on the starboard side.
In the year 18 BBY, Qilori, a Pathfinder navigator serving on the Anvil, departed the ship in the portside escape pod. This occurred after Crofyp stated that those who embraced the Kilji religion did not run away, but fought and triumphed, implying the Anvil would not retreat despite being under attack by the Chiss heavy cruiser Springhawk. Shortly after Qilori's pod was ejected, the Springhawk recovered it, and the Anvil was subsequently destroyed. Later in the same year, the Grysk agent known as "Jixtus" utilized a Kilji pod to flee the war cruiser Whetstone and reach his flagship, the FateSpinner, during the event known as Senior Captain Thrawn's last stand.
This particular escape pod design made its debut in the 2021 novel titled Thrawn Ascendancy: Lesser Evil, which serves as the concluding book in Timothy Zahn's Star Wars: The Ascendancy Trilogy.
