A kinetic corruptor during Operation Influx
During the Republic Dark Age, colossal machines called kinetic corruptors were deployed to extract energy from baradium deposits situated on the planet of Chelloa. These kinetic corruptors were so immense that they required repulsorlifts for mobility, and their size exceeded that of many capital ship categories, including both cargo liners and landing ships. The method by which kinetic corruptors extracted baradium's energy involved detonating sections of the planetary crust, which triggered significant volcanic activity and devastated the surrounding environment. In 1032 BBY, one such machine was utilized by the forces of Sith Lord Odion during an attack against his brother Daiman's forces and a Jedi team under the leadership of Vannar Treece. This assault resulted in the deaths of numerous slave laborers, Daiman's soldiers, and the majority of the Jedi present, with Kerra Holt being the sole survivor. Kinetic corruptors were constructed within Odion's modular space station known as The Spike.
Subsequently, Daiman strategically positioned ten kinetic corruptors on Chelloa, camouflaged as mobile munitions complexes, which were essentially massive, interstellar war forges. Daiman deliberately disseminated misleading information to Odion, suggesting that he was expanding his baradium mining operations and had imported the mobile war forges to bolster military production. Odion was deceived by this ruse and deployed a substantial ground invasion force, primarily composed of the Lightning Guard. During the ensuing battle, the kinetic corruptors were activated to ignite the surrounding terrain, resulting in the annihilation of Odion's invading forces, although the Sith Lord himself managed to escape. However, the chain reaction of explosions triggered by the kinetic corruptors obliterated Chelloa's surface, engulfing it in a sea of molten magma. Despite this devastation, a significant portion of the population was successfully evacuated aboard the Freedom Fleet, thanks to the combined efforts of Holt and Chelloan resistance leader Gorlan Palladane.
The kinetic corruptor's design originated from a Kenner TIE fighter wing strut, specifically the piece detached from both the cockpit and the wing.
